Saving the Blacks

Chapter 16

Walburga

The boys seem to stick even closer to Carina the following days after they meet Rabastan. I mentioned having Rabastan come over, but she worries the boys will feel like he is invading their safe place. I love that she treats them like her little brothers, I just hope she doesn't use their reaction as an excuse to push him away.

After setting everything up we head to the Potter manor. Carina is going to work with lord Potter on the potion while the boys play with James. It is the first time Regulus is going outside the house or the Black manor since we started working with him. When we step through, I see lord and lady Potter waiting for us with James beside them.

"Thank you for having us lord and lady Potter." I say. It feels weird to be spending time with a light family, but I am willing to make an effort.

"Please call me Fleamont. I am glad to have you all. Carina are you ready to begin?" Lord Potter says.

"Sounds good, I have my notes." She says and hugs both the boys before following him out of the room.

"Please call me Euphemia, James this is lady Black and her sons Sirius and Regulus."

"Then please call me Walburga. Why don't you boys go play?" We move to the sitting room and watch as the boys stand there eyeing each other up.

"Sirius is extremely protective of Regulus." I say when Sirius steps in front of him.

"It is good your boys have that." The boys finally begin to talk and soon they are running off. "I hope they all get along. I do worry that James does not get enough socialization."

"I know the feeling, while Sirius and Regulus have each other, they do not see many other kids their own age."

"How is Carina adjusting with everything?" She asks and I smile.

"We found out she does have a bonded. While she is accepting of it, the boys are quite possessive of her and are not happy." I say chuckling.

"That is lovely that she has that. Who is it if you don't mind me asking?"

"Rabastan Lestrange, we plan to make the announcement during the ball." We speak some more on Carina and some of the things the boys have gotten into. It is interesting to spend time with someone who doesn't run in the same high society. I will admit it is far more relaxing.

Arcturus

I along with lord Winters, lord Lestrange and lord Potter sit down for a meeting before the ball. We would need to make sure everything went as smoothly as possible. Ignatius also joins us after expressing a willingness for the Prewett line to join the alliance. It will help even out the dark and light sectors, helping to keep people from questioning the Potter stance.

"Cygnus mentioned also receiving a letter similar to the one Orion received. Thankfully the elf caught it before anyone touched it." I explain.

"While I have yet to receive one, there is more talk of movement and recruitment. I believe the Carrow twins have already joined. Rodolphus has heard from some of his friends about an invitation for him and Bellatrix to meet with a powerful man." Lord Lestrange says.

"Dumbledore has reached out to me about dark times on the rise. He asked if my family would be willing to stand with him if it came down to it." Ignatius says.

"I have been asked the same. I said I had yet to hear of such things and if it came down to it, I would do what was best for my family." Lord Potter says.

"We all knew things would begin to heat up. I have heard the rumors but have yet to be approached personally." I tell the group.

"We will need to have high security after the ball. I am not looking forward to dealing with either Voldemort or Dumbledore." Lord Winters says. "Carina will need to be announced as magically bonded to the Winters line to explain the bond. She will have people coming at her from both sides along with the other children. I would not put it past them to try to use family to get to her and by extension me."
