Being dumb

The first thing that came to Akira's mind after reading Sae's text was to go right back to Makoto's apartment and confront her, force Sae to realize how unfair she was being, or if she was already gone, talk to Makoto and-

That's dumb, I'm dumb

He quickly realized that was a great way to get Makoto into even more trouble. Or get himself to prison sooner. Or both.

As he was walking to Leblanc, he thought that at the very least he had to talk to Makoto, find out what happened after he left and maybe find a way out of this mess. He couldn't call her from his cellphone but maybe the payphone at Leblanc-

That's dumb, I'm dumb

Sae had his file, Sojiro's numbers were there. And besides, she probably would monitor Makoto's cellphone from now on, and any call made from an unknown number would surely be noted. That is if she hadn't confiscated Makoto's cell in the first place.

Sojiro was already behind the bar, an amused look in his face.

"So, how did it go?"

Akira hadn't really had the time or the mind to process everything that had happened since he left the Cafe the day before. It was going so well, and it kept getting better until it turned into an absolute catastrophe. In just a few hours he went from kissing the girl he liked, to spending the night with her, to having to admit every feeling he had for her, to being threatened with going back to juvie.

If this is supposed to be funny, the gods have the worst sense of humor.

"Like usual, I guess" he deadpanned

Sojiro threw a skeptical look his way.

"I need to get ready for school, I'll tell you what happened when I get back"

It wasn't until he was aboard the train to Shujin that he tried to come up with something again. But every idea he had was promptly shut down by several problems, the first of them almost always being that he simply didn't know what Makoto thought about all this, what had happened between her and her sister and how far was she willing to go to defend their relationship.

Wow, I'm calling this a relationship already. Maybe ask the girl to be your girlfriend first before you start picking baby names Akira.

He couldn't help but smile. Yeah everything got screwed up, but what else was new? At least this time he had her. For far too long he had faced everything alone, but last night was different. Last night Makoto was there, body and soul, right beside him. Last night she listened to him, got angry for him, and let herself go with him. They would figure it out together. He still needed to find the opportunity to talk to her without her sister finding out but-

Wait, was that my stop? Shit... that's dumb, I'm dumb.

Makoto got to the school just a few minutes before classes started. She went straight to the student council room to leave her things and get ready. Normally she would arrive much earlier, but with everything that happened in the last hours, she counted herself lucky to at least be there on time. She still didn't know how or when she was going to be able to talk to Akira, but she knew it had to be today. Makoto couldn't bear the idea of him feeling alone, abandoned and unjustly accused again. He had her in his corner now, and she needed to tell him that as soon as possible.

Makoto went to unlock the door, but to her surprise found it open.

Maybe one of the other members forgot to lock it after they left .

She entered the room and went straight to the desk where she kept her things, letting the door close on its own. She was opening her drawer when she noticed him at last.
