Team Four

Jasmine's P.O.V.

I searched through my closet, frantically looking for a decent American-looking outfit. I decided to just go with a pair of skinny jeans and a lavender shirt. This wasn't like the most important day of my life. "Jaz! Your going to be late for the bus if you don't come down and eat the breakfast I made you!"
"Coming mom!" I mumbled as I was fixing my hair into a bun. Truthfully, I was scared to death about going to a real high school... in America. My whole life I have lived in India. I spoke the language. I went to their humble schools. I wore their clothes. I practiced their religions! And now a one summer transition from India to America just came up out of the blue! This was all because of my dad's stupid work upgrade. If it wasn't for that I could still be living in my beloved home country. Why does life have to be so hard?
"Mom. Do I really have to go to school today? Can't I just wait one more day?"
"No. Jasmine, we already went over this. You are going to school today. Scary or not, it is for your own good. You dad is getting payed a lot more, and so we can afford more and live well. Now come down and get your breakfast! The bus is here in five minutes!"
"Fine." I huffed, and I stomped down the stairs with my arms crossed. I would have rather moved to Africa than this dirty place. Who cares about the money?

Quickly, I gulped down my last mouthful of cereal, and the bus rounded the corner. I scooped up my backpack, and started to the door, but my mom came up behind me and hugged me.
"Sweetie, you will do fine. Nothing is going to happen to you ok. You don't have to be scared.
"Ok, mom. If you say so." And I walked out the door, feeling a little more confident.
"Your late!" The bus driver yelled at me. Ugh. I hate snobby people.
"I know! You don't have to tell me!" I shouted back. He then drew back, almost afraid of me. Strike one. I guess that is not a friendly jester in America. Oh god. I won't survive this year.
