"Dr.Santi, What the hell are you doing!" yelled Dr.Webber as nurses wheeled in the gurney, Cayetana hovering over her patients, as she continued with chest compressions.
"Keeping them alive, I've got a thready pulse, GSW to the abdomen." Cayetana replied, focused on her patient.
"Take Trauma 4, run it yourself." Webber said before rushing to help Bailey. Dr. Webber was already under immense stress with Burkes injury, he knew Cayetana could handle the case herself, he wasn't going to stress himself.
The nurses were quick to move Cayetana into Trauma 4, the intern yelled out orders, rushing to stabilize the patient, all nurses were compliant and quite impressed with the calm demeanor the women held.
"Charge pulse to two hundred" Cayetana ordered.
"Charged. Clear." A nurse said, Cayetana moved her hands away from the patient, as the nurse defibs.
"Nothing. Push 4mg of Prazepam."
The nurses followed orders, "I see sinus rhythm."
Cayetana took a breathe, before getting off the gurney. Her patient wasn't dead. She saved their life. Sure, she had assisted with codes but this time it was all on her own. She was so proud of herself but as she started to pack the GSW in the abdomen she started wondering.
Where were her friends? Burke was just shot. Cristina and her are running traumas on their own and not one of her friends were begging to assist on a case.
It was strange but Cayetana didn't have the time to look for them. She had a patient, and needed to assure that he lived.
It had been two hours, Cayetana's patient went through surgery and she was now assisting Dr.Bailey.
Dr.Burke had asked for ice chips, so Cayetana went to search for some while Dr.Bailey spoke with Dr. Burke.
"Where is Cristina? Where are...where are all of the suck-ups?" Bailey rhetorically asked, as she had realized none of her interns except Cayetana had came to assist her for the past thirty minutes.
"Excuse me?" Burke asked, slightly confused.
"My interns. My ass kissing, surgery-hungry, competitive suck-ups. Where are they? Santi is the only one here. Why aren't they here fetching you ice chips and morphine? Why aren't they here sucking up? You know something. Preston Xavier Burke...what have you done with my suck-ups?"
The two stayed silent, both glaring at one another.
"Alrighty Dr.Burke I've got your ice chips." Cayetana cheerfully said as she walked into the room.
