5 Years Later

"Come on, angel" Billy coos to Lily, our newborn, as he takes her out of her car seat. I watch with awe as he unbuckles her before pulling her out of the seat and placing her on his hip. Lily stares at his face, admiring him. Then, she yanks at his stray curls with her little hands, causing Billy to yelp.

"Ow, don't pull at daddy's hair" he scolds before tickling her stomach, causing her to curl into his hand, doubling over in a fit of giggles.

And he thought he wasn't going to be a good dad.

After I graduated, I moved out to California with Billy. Although it was tough to move away from my childhood home, it was a new start, and I was able to find a college to attend there. I graduated with my associates degree and I started working with motorcycles, since I love mine and I love working with my hands. I opened a shop, and Billy helps me run it. We had built a great life for ourselves already, and once I found out I was pregnant with Lily, we were complete. 

We had started a family, one that I had never imagined.

I still visit Hawkins often, such as right now for Thanksgiving. Mom and her boyfriend of two years, Sam, are hosting it. She has been very happy with Sam, way happier than she ever was with my dad. It brings me so much joy to finally see her with someone that makes her happy.

Billy closes the car door, smiling as he holds Lily on his hip. He makes his way around the car to me. He notices my big grin on my lips and he smiles, looking to his baby he is holding.

We make our way inside where my mom, Sam, Steve, and his wife, Nancy, are waiting. Steve and Nancy had gotten over their high school dramas and after a couple years he proposed. I am so happy my brother is finally happy.

"Heyyy" Nancy calls out to us, since she sees us first. Everyone turns their head and they all race over to us. Specifically, to Lily. Since we were practically across the country, and I had Lily not very long ago, this is the first time they are all meeting her. Mom comes over in almost a sprint and runs to Billy.

"Aw, hey everyone" she says before looking at Lily. "Hey, baby" she says to her with a big smile on her face. Billy gestures for my mom to hold her and she gladly does. I watch as Billy smiles down at his baby in my mom's arms. Then I look over to Steve and Nancy, who are all over Lily as well. So, I turn to Sam who is also watching this all unfold. I walk over to him.

"Hey" he says to me, and I pull him in for a hug. After, I go over to Steve and hug him tight before pulling away.

"She is absolutely adorable" he comments.

"I know, Billy thinks so too. He is in love with her."

Steve looks over to Billy. "You got a weakness, Hargrove?"

Billy flips him off and I laugh at the teasing. The boys have gotten comfortable with each other, dare I say, even friends.

Mom and Nancy are still fussing over Lily, so I take this chance to use the bathroom. Once I come back, the energy has dialed down. Lily is now in Steve's arms as him and Billy talk. Nancy watches as Steve bounces her, her lips turning into a smile. I walk over to her, pulling her into a hug.

"How are you doing?" She asks. "You know, after the baby and everything."

"Great, thank you. I missed you guys."

"If you would have let me, I would have flown right over there when you were in-"

I laugh, cutting her off. "No Nancy its okay."

"I missed you honey" my mom says as she walks over to me, enveloping me in a huge hug.

"I missed you too" I say to her as she pulls away.

The doorbell rings, our last guest arriving. Billy walks over to the door and opens it. Although he groans, a smile comes across his face.

"Heyyy" Max announces as she walks into the house and past Billy. "Where is she?"

Steve turns to Max and she runs over to him. She immediately grabs Lily out of his arms. Lily looks between them, seemingly confused as of why she is being tossed around. Then, Max walks over to me first and side-hugs me since Lily is on her hip. Then she makes her rounds of hugs. She even hugs Billy softly, which is huge progress since 5 years ago. Let's just say Billy listened to my advice and started getting along with Max. Max is also very comfortable with my family now; she is part of the family now, and has been for 3 years when Billy and I got married.

Yes, I still wear the bracelet from the hill.

Once we are all together, Mom gets the food all ready for serving and we all go up one by one to get our servings. I get some mashed potatoes for Lily and bring it over to her. She is sitting in her high chair next to Billy, and I sit on the other side of it after I set the plate in front of her. She reaches her hand out and brings it to her mouth, completely making a mess. I go to clean her up but Billy stops me and does it himself.

God, I love this man.

After we all eat and Billy helps my mom clean up in the kitchen, everyone gathers in the living room.

"I definitely did" Steve argues to Billy.

"No you did not" he shouts back.

"You were bleeding out of your nose, I definitely beat you up good."

Billy scoffs and rolls his eyes, a habit he claims he got from me. "Bet I got a bigger dick than you though."

"Absolutely not. You've got a microscopic dick."

"Just ask Stacy" Billy says, looking over at me and smirking.

"Is this even an appropriate topic to have?" My mom speaks up, bouncing Lily on her knee.

"How do you know what size his dick is, Steve?" Max says, and Nancy and I burst out laughing.

"I didn't say-"

"Do you need me to prove it to you, Harrington?" Billy cuts Steve off.

"Okay and we're done here" my mom says, getting up with Lily.

I laugh, looking around at my crazy family that I love so much. I snuggle into Billy's side and he kisses the top of my head once I do so.

This is where I want to be. This is where I am happy.

With the people I love most, and in the arms of the love of my life.
