Song: (I Just) Died In Your Arms by Cutting Crew

I made Stacy leave her bike at the school because I wanted to take her. My emotions are all over the place. I don't know how she is going to take my news. I don't want to abandon her; thats not my goal. I want to be happy, but I don't want her to leave her life behind for me. I will come back for her. If I need to, I will stay here. I just need to see where her thoughts are.

I drive us back up to the hill that I took her to months ago to ask her to be my girlfriend. It feels like an eternity ago, yet like just yesterday. I feel like I have known Stacy my whole life. And this place brings me a sense of peace when I am here with her. So, I felt like this was the right place to deliver the news to her.

I put my camaro in park, leaving my cap and gown in my seat, having my jeans and simple blue button up shirt underneath remaining on my body. I bring Stacy to the top of her hill, pulling her up with her hand in mine. She giggles, all giddy and excited for whatever I am bringing her here for. I, on the other hand, am still feeling restless as hell.

Once we reach the top, I grab her hands in mine.

"What is this for?" She asks, looking me in the eyes.

"To make you walk all the way up here" I joke.

"Come on, why are we here?" she urges on, an adorable grin still on her face.

I sigh. "I have something to tell you" I say nervously. "Well, ask you, really."

"Okaaaay" she says, dragging you the a. She sounds just as nervous as me now, sensing the worry in my voice.

"I um" I stutter. I am scared to tell her, honestly. But here I go.

"I want to go to California."

She pauses and looks at me, her eye brows scrunching up in confusion. "Why?"

"Well, I mean.."

How do I explain this? Why do I want to go?

"I have been wanting to go back since I got here. You're really the only good part of this hell hole."

She looks down at our hands, and she unconsciously bites her lip in thought. After a second she looks back up to me.

"I'm coming with you."

I scoff. "No you're not."

"Yes I am" she argues, being a stubborn ass.

"Stacy" I stop her. "You are not giving your life up for me."

She sighs, giving into me.

"Will you come visit?"

"Of course I will."

I pull a hand out of her grasp, putting it into my back pocket, feeling for the piece of string waiting for me there. After practically begging Maxine, she braided a blue and pink bracelet out of yarn for me to give to Stacy. She can be alright sometimes.

I pull it out and show it to her, and she gasps so quietly I almost miss it.

"This" I say, grabbing her wrist. "Is a promise."

"A promise to what?" she asks in a whisper, staring down the string in my hand.

"A promise to be yours forever."

I wrap the braid around her wrist, delicately tying it into a knot. The bracelet lightly lays on her wrist, and it looks perfect. She looks up to me as I am still holding her wrist in my hands. Tears are gathering at the corners of her eyes, and it breaks my heart.

She pulls her arms out of my grasp and she wraps them around my neck, her head buried into my shoulder. My arms immediately go around her body, pulling her as close to me as possible. She quietly cries onto my shirt, and a small tear runs down my cheek.

"I am not going to be gone forever."

"But you're leaving."

"I would never leave you, gorgeous" I whisper into her ear.

I pull away from her, and I cup her face in my hands. "I am coming back for you."

"You better" she says, sniffling. I chuckle and pull her back into my hold, never wanting to let her go. After a hug that lasts forever, she pulls away and plants a gentle kiss onto my lips. She wraps her arm around mine, pulling them into a loop as we walk back to my camaro. We get in, and we pull away to drive home.

She fiddles with the bracelet around her perfect wrist. I smile as I watch her do it.

"You should thank Maxine for that, though" I mention.

She looks at me with a big fat smile on her face. "You guys friends now?"

"Nope" I deny. "It was for you, so she agreed. She really likes you" I argue back, strangely defensively.

"Whatever" she laughs, teasing me. I shake my head as I smile, watching her admire the pieces of string.

"I love you, gorgeous."

She snaps her head to look over at me, looking shocked for a moment before she smiles, her cheeks turning pink.

"I love you too, William"
