Frank felt a pair of arms embrace him and pull him back, one hand clamped to his mouth and the other on his stomach. Gerard pulled Frank's head back to rest on his shoulder as his mouth neared his neck. "Want me to show you how harmless I can be?" he said in a low voice, almost a growl, right next to Frank's ear. "Right now, you're so helpless and...easy to bite."
Frank shivered in Gerard's grip. He started talking, but his words were muffled by Gerard's hand.
"I think my jokes were good. Trust me, you'd rather hear my jokes than feel my fangs in your neck." With saying that, Gerard released Frank.
Frank scrambled away from Gerard and stared at him in fright. "You weren't actually going to bite me, were you?" he asked anxiously, pressing his palm to his neck, still feeling the frostiness of Gerard's breath on it.
"Nah, too messy. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get blood out of bed sheets?" Gerard clicked his tongue and shook his head. "If I was going to bite you, I'd do it outdoors in some isolated place."
"L-Like the park we met in...? Oh my God...that's why you sneaked up on me!" Frank pressed his hand to his mouth and stared at Gerard in shock. "So if I didn't react the way I did, you would've bitten me?" Frank looked away from Gerard and pressed his hands to his forehead.
"I mean...I gotta do what I gotta do to survive...Do you have any idea how hard it is getting food as a vampire. You humans can just go to the grocery store, but I have to stalk and get a human in an isolated place before I can even consider feeding on them. It's hard, Frankie." Gerard shrugged. "I usually go for depressed looking people, anyway. I wouldn't want to kill someone who wanted to live."
"So why'd you try and go for me?" Frank asked quietly.
"Well, you were sitting alone in an isolated park at night. And you seem kind of depressed, to me. But, don't worry, I won't bite you now. I've developed an attraction to you, anyway." Gerard grinned at Frank.
"You know..." Frank started, his voice quieter than it was before, "I'd be fine with you killing me if Marty didn't exist. I'd rather be able to help you survive than die without benefitting anyone."
Gerard tilted his head and stared at Frank. His face softened. "Now that you said that, you can count out the possibility of me killing you. Enjoy your life. You only have seventy or so years left - it's not much."
"I wish it would go by quicker..." Frank felt tears roll down his cheek, and he lifted his hand to wipe them away but Gerard beat him to it.
Gerard wiped away Frank's tears with his thumb and held his cheeks. Staring at him, Gerard smiled softly. "How old are you?" he whispered.
"Sixteen..." Frank avoided Gerard's eyes.
"You have too much emotional stress for your age. You should be enjoying yourself. You're never going to be sixteen again." Gerard said, holding Frank's face.
Frank didn't look at Gerard.
"Look at me," Gerard ordered, pulling Frank's head up to stare at him. "I'm sixteen too. See? We're kind of in the same situation, except one of us is suicidal. It doesn't need to be that way. Why do you have these feelings?"
"I don't want to talk about it!" Frank said quickly, smacking Gerard's hands from his face. He began pacing the room with his head in his hands.
Gerard noticed that Frank was starting to have a panic attack. "Hey, hey, calm down." He walked up to Frank and rested a hand on his shoulder.
"Get off!" Frank whimpered, pushing Gerard. "You don't understand what I'm going through! So just shut up and go away!" He sat on the floor bundled in a ball with his hands over his face.
