"Marty, open up, it's me, it's Frankie," Frank said softly, knocking on the door of his brother's bedroom. "Please, open the door."
"Is that scary man still here, Frankie?" Marty asked quietly, pressing his ear to the door to properly hear Frank.
"No, Gerard got rid of him. He's not coming back, isn't that great?" Frank tried shaking the door handle but the door was still locked.
Gerard tapped Gerard's shoulder and whispered, "I think he's talking about me."
"He's scary...he hurt Daddy..." Marty said quietly.
"Open the door," Frank said in a more serious voice. "I'm not going to ask you again. Open the door."
Marty hesitantly unlocked the door and Frank opened it. He saw Marty sitting on his bed, fiddling with his fingers. As soon as he locked eyes with Gerard, he started whimpering and covering his eyes with his hands. "The scary boy is here, Frankie...he's going to hurt me..."
Gerard pressed his lips together and looked at the floor. "I won't hurt you...I was protecting you."
"You weren't protecting me! You hurt daddy! He was bleeding a-and you bit him in the neck!" Marty started screaming, staring at Gerard with tear-filled eyes. "You're a monster!"
"C'mon, Marty, stop it!" Frank chimed in, hugging Marty tightly. "Gerard is protecting us. Daddy was going to...hurt me badly if he didn't help. Would you rather see me get hurt or give Gerard a chance?"
Frank turned and looked at Gerard who looked a little upset.
"Ignore him, Gerard, he doesn't understand," Frank said, looking back at Gerard.
"Why should I ignore him? Children are more honest than anyone. I've done nothing but cause trouble. I'm sorry." Gerard briefly looked at Gerard and Marty then left.
"Wait!" Frank called after him, leaving Marty and running after Gerard. "Where are you going?" Frank finally caught up to Gerard and gripped his arm.
"I shouldn't stay here any longer, I'll only cause you two more problems." Gerard brushed off Frank and headed towards his entry and exit to the house - the window. He didn't care that it was raining heavily.
"No, please don't leave. I want you here with us." Frank frowned.
"Yeah, but Marty doesn't." Gerard opened the window fully, ready to step out into the cold rain.
"No!" Frank said quickly, pulling him back inside, getting the sleeves of his hoodie wet.
"You think I like being seen as a monster? It's not my fault I'm stuck with this stupid vampire curse for the rest of eternity! I don't want to be like this, Frank! My brother felt the same way towards me when I accidentally killed him. It was dark and I heard screams. That night we were being robbed and the power had gone out...I bit and killed the wrong person. The burglar got away and I was left with the guilt knowing I killed my own brother..." Gerard was yelling now, staring at Frank like he could bring back his brother. "Marty reminds me of Mikey. If he hates me then I know Mikey does too..." Gerard stepped outside.
Frank followed Gerard outside. "Stop it, Gerard! Come back inside, right now!" Frank yelled, holding onto Gerard's arm tightly.
"Why would you care? You don't even love me back. You probably think I'm some creepy outsider stalker. You only like me now because I solved all your problems with my biggest problem!" Gerard said harshly.
Frank gripped Gerard's hands and pulled him closer. "I do love you..." he said quietly.
Gerard swallowed. "You're just saying that," he assumed.
"No, I mean it! I fucking love you!" Frank pulled Gerard closer and kissed him again. He'd expected Gerard to push him off and call him a liar, but he didn't.
Gerard kissed Frank back, resting his hands on his waist and pulling him closer. The kiss was very warm, despite the rainy cold weather. When they finally stopped kissing, they stared at each other for a moment.
"Do you mean that?" Gerard whispered.
"Of course I do...darling." Frank grinned at Gerard.
"Hey! That's what I call you!" Gerard smiled.
"Please come back inside. Marty will warm up to you, just give him some time," Frank said, holding Gerard's hand and helping him back inside.
"Time? Now that's something I have a lot of." Gerard grinned, very proud of his own joke. "Get it? Because I'm immortal. Yeah?"
"Yeah, I get it. That's a good one." Frank didn't call his joke any bad names since he had gotten used to them. If you think about them, they really weren't as bad as he was making them out to be.
