"Y'know I'm really glad that you're doing this," Liam tells me, gently holding me as we are standing in front of the cemetery.

The rain's been pouring for awhile, but I'm glad to see it's stopping. The last thing I'd ever want for this day to turn out to be is a cliché.

I take a deep breathe and everything along with it in. It's been a year and I still haven't set foot here. I never even went on that day either. It was all too much, too overwhelming.

What would she say right now?

A whole year without her and I still hadn't worked up the courage to go see her. "I'm glad I'm doing this too," I breathe out and walk forwards, at the lead of Liam, of course.

We walk past the entrance, earning subtle nods from passers by. We walk for a little more than I expected to. But, as I have said before, I've never set foot here. So I don't even know where she is.

"Not too far from now," Liam walks with me, holding me close. Despite him being my my younger brother, it feels like he's my twin at times. Not only is he more mature than any guy his age is, but the way he handles things are the so similar to how I handle things — if not, better.

Five minutes later, we're in front of her. We're fixated on what's supposedly is my grandmother, with only a gravestone looking back at us. On it, I finally come to see the words on my grandmother's grave:

       —————————————————————
Mrs. Zoe Angelou
                               1950 - 2022

           Veteran, Mother & Grandmother

                      'Thank God for you two'
       —————————————————————

"I can't believe it," unshed tears are on the verge of falling upon looking at the finely engraved words.

"I know... it's really been a year," Liam has his hand on my shoulder, giving it a comforting pat. I've gotta say that as much as it's so much better having Liam with me here and now... I don't think any moment would've prepared me for this day.

A year ago, today ...  my grandmother passed away from a heart arrhythmia. I'll never forget the next few months after that. As if dealing with a breakup pre-passing wasn't enough, her passing destroyed me.

"Y/n?... Y/n, you in here?" Chloe's voice echoes through my head, but it's not something I consciously reply to. I only think I did.
