Y/n's POV
Bags under my eyes and the intense need for coffee — bottom line is that I didn't sleep at all after going to Griffin's last night. Which is why I'm currently sitting at Simon & Schuster's cafe just trying to drink a few short sips before getting back home.
If I do.
Now, I know what you're thinking — why haven't I even returned home after going to Griffin's? The answer's simple — I went over to talk to him.
And no! Not maniacally and brutally roughing him up and leaving him in bruises. I love way too much for that, and I'm not that kind of person. Obviously.
It was simply killing me to know that Niall fucking Horan had met up with my girlfriend and I didn't even know about it. It's still unreal to say she's my girlfriend. But she is so — in your face, leprechaun boy! Didn't really mean that.
Anyways, the fact of the matter is that I was at Griffin's place. Another fact is I never really slept. But it's not because of our convo ... not entirely, anyway.
• Last night, at Griffin's house •
"So what's up?" I'm brought out of my intense thoughts by Griffin's voice and a drink. He's brought out some soda and a bowl of ice cream. I smile and take a sip of my Dr. Pepper and proceed.
"Hope I didn't wake you up, though."
"Nah, that's okay," he says, "I was up fixing a car part anyway." I nod, taking a another sip of soda. As I drink, my eyes randomly rest on a picture of Griffin, Hailee, their parents and ... Niall?
I wouldn't have a problem with that, really I wouldn't. But the fact is that the picture looks very recent.
I'm in no place to tell anyone what the Steinfelds looked like a few years back, given that I never really knew them. But I know for a fact that this is a recent picture. Don't ask me how and why. I just do.
The surprise causes me to accidentally choke on my drink, causing me to cough terribly. "Woah, woah, woah! You alright there?"
"I'm g-good, don't worry ab-about it!" I'm still slightly wheezing from the soda and the bubbles that have somehow and in someway found their way to clog themselves up my throat and nose. It's so uncomfortable.
"Need some water?"
I nod. Griffin makes quick of heading to the fridge, getting me a bottle of water and making sure I've calmed down. Seeing that picture and having another sip of water, I can't help but feel something that's much worse than a simple choking incident.
My ears start to hear a lot of thumping, and I feel it in my chest. I'm trying my best not to take any sort of pill at the moment, so I try to pretend as if everything's normal. Maybe I can make it happen. Maybe I can fake being normal.
