The walls and the whole room around me is so unfamiliar that it doesn't take me much time to fathom that this isn't my bedroom.

Before I can even come to my senses to see where I am, the sound of a guitar starts playing. The audience that wasn't there before suddenly cheers around me.

"What the hell?"

I look around the place. It's a little too dark to make out exactly where I am. All I know is that I'm no longer in the comfort of my warm bed, rather in a concert ambience.

"Excuse me," I tap on the shoulder of a bystander who's cheering along with the crowd.

She turns around, revealing herself. My heart stops and my blood runs cold. Hailee.

"Yeah," she replies, "What can I do for you?"

"W-what do you mean?" I ask, "You're my girlfriend."

At my explanation, her face slowly turns to one of confusion. She looks around the area, now confusing me.

"I'm sorry," says Hailee, "Are you talking to me?"

What. The. Fuck?

"Yes, you," I say, "Who else would I refer to?"

She shrugs her shoulders and looks at me again, "I'm really sorry, but you might have me confused with someone else."

Okay, this must be some kind of joke. What's going on here? I demand an explanation.

"W-what's that supposed to mean?" I ask, "We just spent Thanksgiving with your family about a few weeks ago. Your little cousin Will is a real dream, had a little bonding time. Don't you remember that?"

Hailee's face still appears to be confused, setting my heart to seriously race like never before. I don't know whether to feel scared or hurt. Because, at this point, I'm feeling both and it really kills.

"Umm, I'm sorry," says Hailee, "I don't recall spending Thanksgivings with you, so it's pretty crazy that you know my cousin's name. Plus, I spent Thanksgiving with my boyfriend's family this year."

Wait... what did she say?

I heard boyfriend.

Did y'all hear something different?

"I'm—I'm sorry," I stutter, "Did you just say boyfriend?"
