* One week later *
The small hatch in the door was opened and some bread and a cup was slid in. I snatched it away afraid that they were gonna take it and immediately took a big bite out of the bread.
My back ached from the small space I was cramped up in and I couldn't tell if it was day or night, or how many days have passed already. I don't know if Loki made it out. Maybe the Avengers already came and got everyone out and couldn't find me. I wouldn't know.
The small hatch closed again leaving me in the dark. I kicked the door in frustration and ate the rest of the bread.
The silence, that's the worst. No loud annoying breathing of other people. No footsteps. No music. No voices. Nothing. The silence is what's totally driving me insane.
I hummed the tune Steve hummed after I had the nightmare and tapped my foot against the wall. I stopped the humming for a second to take a sip of my water and continued. But soon the humming started in screaming and pounding on the door. I kicked the door so hard my hands started bleeding and my foot felt like it was about to break in half. So I just kept screaming. Not for help or out of anger. No I was screaming to safe my sanity.
Because that makes sense.
My screaming slowly died off so I started laughing. I laughed until tears came in my eyes.
I probably got Clint killed.
I'll probably die in here.
I may have send my father to his death.
I let my sister have sex with someone twice her age.
I'm fucking hilarious.
I laughed my ass off until I was actually on the floor. Then, I stopped laughing and hurled up in a little ball. A tear rolled over my cheek and I was about to break down when I heard a distant sound.
An alarm.
I smiled and hummed a quiet tune until, fucking finally, my door opened.
I was blinded by the light at first but quickly recovered. In front of me stood a tall muscular guy in a red white and blue tight suit. With a big shield of course.
"Helena" He breathed out. I smiled weakly and stood up. I could finally stretch my legs out again and sighed happily. As soon as I walked out Steve stepped forward and hugged me tightly.
"I missed you" He whispered.
"I missed you too" I sighed and unwrapped his arms. He took a step back and eyed me up and down.
"Are you injured?" He asked.
"Not that badly" I answered and we started walking down the hallway to the left. We walked for a while until I couldn't hold my burning question in anymore.
"Is Clint dead?" I asked.Steve looked at me and started laughing.
"He didn't even get shot Helena"
Thank. God.
I let out a nervous laugh and leaned against the wall for a second. The further away I got from my cell the more all of the wounds started to hurt.
"Were are the rest of the avengers?" I asked and took a deep breath.
"They're evacuating the rest of the hostages. We're trying to avoid a fight" He answered and walked over to me. He put his arm around my waist and forced me to start walking again.
We walked in silence. I saw that Steve had his ear thingie in so that he could hear the rest of the Avengers. I could hear some distant voices from it. All of the sudden a louder voice came from it and Steve abruptly stopped walking. Steve rapidly looked around and then back to me.
"Can you run?" He asked and pulled me along as he started running. I heard a loud noise coming from above us. With every step I took I felt my injuries hurt more. I bit my lip and kept running after Steve.
I'm guessing the whole 'not fighting' thing didn't work out.
Steve opened a door and nearly pushed me in. It took me a while to realize what we were heading for but I finally understood it when I saw the plane.
"What you're gonna fly that?" I asked nervously. Steve simply nodded and pushed me in through the cargo door. The plane was very small. it could hold a small car in the cargo space and for the rest only had a small cockpit and a mysterious door that I'm guessing is the toilet. Steve immediately sat down in the cockpit and I took place next to him. Not that I'm gonna do any flying. oh no, I would kill us both.
"Did Loki find you?" I asked as he prepared to take off by pushing what looked like random buttons to me.
"What? No" He said confused and turned on the engines.
So either it didn't work or he did got out and left us.
"Oh" I just said and stared out of the small window next to me.
"Stark is Loki among the captives?" Steve asked. I waited for a couple of seconds as he responded but saw Steve's expression change from a neutral one to more angry.
"The other hostages say he got out, but he's not there" He repeated for me. I mumbled some colorful words and placed my hand over the wound I got from that metal strip. It throbbed like hell.
Steve managed to take off and soon we were flying in the air. I was actually surprised that he knew how to fly a plane. Kindly surprised at the moment.
"Where are we going?" I asked after a while.
"A safe house" He responded "It's in a forest, We'll probably only have to stay there for 2 days max"
"Good" I said "I want to go home"
