High school

The next few weeks I mostly spend in the infirmary,  I had to have multiple surgeries. For the metal strip that was in my side, which was a tracking device. There was some panic about it, until they realized that it broke the moment I switched between realms with my father. It was harmless, But good intel.

I finally laid down on my bed again, after being gone for two months. I had exactly ten seconds of peace and quiet until there was a soft knock on my door.

"Come in." I said with a sigh and sat up straight, during the time I was gone many photos fell down from my ceiling. But by the looks of it someone collected them and put them my dresser.

The door opened and Steve walked in with a smile on his face. I haven't seen much of him, most of the Avengers have been out trying to catch the people that kidnapped me. I stood up and hugged him tightly.

While recovering from the surgeries I've had a lot of time to think about the kiss, and if it was something that I should bug Steve about. And to be honest, I still haven't made any progress. I mean, was it just in the moment? Or did Steve actually had a crush on me? After a few days of focusing on that I realized that I was looking in the wrong direction, what really mattered right now if I liked him.

Another question I had no answer to.

I mean, I love Steve. I have always loved Steve. But he has known me since I was a baby, which makes it kinda creepy... And I don't know if it is even possible to maintain a relationship with someone on this helicarrier. Or if he was totally over her...

"Earth to Helena." Steve laughed and snapped his fingers in front of me. Without even noticing we had sat down on my bed. His hand was on my knee which gave me a weird feeling in my stomach, and the urge to smile uncontrollably.

It was weird.

I covered his hand with mine and traced a circle on the back of it. From the corner of my eye I saw Steve looking at me, but I kept my head down and my eyes focused on our hands.

"It's weird how I've been gone for two months and I have no idea what to talk about." I laughed awkwardly. Steve made a weird huffing sound in agreement. I finally dared to look up again and our eyes met. I had no idea what to do but give him a sly smile.

"I had to give you this." Steve said and got an envelop out of his pocket. He handed it to me and carefully watched my reaction to it. The envelop looked old, on the front of it was written 'Helena' In a beautiful, curly handwriting.

"Who's it from?" I asked as I started gently trying to open it.

"I don't know." He lied and got the envelop from me. He opened it and handed it back to me. I got the letter out and started to read. But before I did my eyes went to the bottom of the page, to see whom the sender was. With a fancy signature it was signed off as 'Thor'.

"My dear niece,

I am happy to hear that you are recovering well, and I hope to see you back on your feet at my next visit. I shall try to keep this letter as short as possible, But I have three things to tell you.

The first one is about your father. He was captured on Alfheim and sent back to Asgard, where he will continue his imprisonment. He is happy to hear that you have fully healed and wishes you the best on midgard.

The second thing is about your education. I think you are one of the smartest midgardians I have ever met, however during my last visit it has come to my attention that you have had no proper midgardian education so far. It would be a waste to not use the great mind that you have been given, so I have talked to Director Fury and he has agreed to let you enroll in what you call 'high school' I have no idea what it is but it sounds very promising!

And finally, after explaining what has occurred on Midgard and Alfheim to the Allfather he has decided that it was time for him to meet his granddaughters. Our finest chefs are preparing the greatest food you will ever eat, and there will be festivities the entire week you're both here!

I hope to see you soon,

                                        Thor. "

I folded the letter shut and placed it on my nightstand.

"What are you thinking?" Steve asked and put a stray lock of my hair behind my ear. His finger brushed against my jaw and gave me the same tingling feeling in my stomach as before. I instantly forgot about the entire existence of the letter.

"Nothing." I managed to say. "It's still sinking in."

He nodded absently and kept playing around with my hair. The fingers of his right hand slowly pressed against my jaw, making me look at him. It was weird, being so close to someone, their face just looks different. Steve slowly closed his eyes and leaned in. This wasn't like before, when I didn't see the kiss coming and rolled with it. I had to do something now.

I leaned in too and as soon as my lips touched his he removed his hand from my jaw and placed it on my cheek, pulling me even closer. I felt like I was on fire, my cheeks were burning and so were my lips. and his touch felt like ice, it balanced me out. He pushed me back a bit and soon my head touched my pillow and he was on top of me.

"Stop." I mumbled against his lips. Either he didn't hear me or he was ignoring me.

"Steve stop." I said again and pushed him away a bit. He stopped kissing me but was still on top of me looking confused.

"Did I do something wrong?" He asked and looked to see if he hurt me.

"No! No, It's just uh..." I said and tried to find the right words. "It's uh, kinda moving to fast."

He nodded and climbed off me. It was quiet for a few seconds until I realized what I read in the letter.

"I have to go to fucking high school?"
