To be honest, I was more terrified of going home than of storming into a military base without a plan. I was waiting for the bad news, the engine failure or maybe getting shot at. Just something bad to happen that would keep me from going back home. But the flight was safe. I was surrounded by soldiers going home. So there was a nice mood. Most of them were talking about their families to me and didn't ask any questions.
"seat belts on." The captain notified us. The guy next to me helped me for the second time to wrap myself in in the weird straps that formed this seat belt. The pilot started descending and my nerves got worse. Who will be waiting there for me? A random agent? Steve?
Not soon after we touched the ground and soon came to stop. I unbuckled my seat belt all by myself and got up. Everyone walked away to get their bags so for a split second I was alone again.
I'm fine. I'm home.
The guy that helped me with my seat belt before came back first and put his hand around my shoulder.
"Got family waiting for ya?" He asked with a thick New York accent.
"Hopefully." I replied. More people came back all wearing the same green backpack and the same green uniform. I stood out since I was still wearing the clothes I stole in Alfheim.
"I'm sure they're here." He said as the hatch started opening. It was one of those big ones since this is a cargo ship. So we had to wait until it was fully down. More people lined up in front of us. And I was totally fine with that. I had enough eyes on me since I wasn't in uniform and the only girl here. I didn't need to help that stereotype and run out first.
The hatch was fully open. People started running or walking out. The guy let go of me and jogged to what looked like a young pregnant girl. They hugged each other tightly and he went down on his knees to kiss her belly too. I smiled and felt stronger.
I can go home. Nothing will go down.
I took the first step off the plane and looked around to see if I saw someone familiar. I didn't see anyone until I noticed a group of people all standing apart from the rest. But first I saw her. Allison. And for some reason I started to cry. I didn't realize that I missed her the most. Mainly because we never got along. We were never best friends, we were just sisters.
With tears running down my face I started walking towards them. Allison noticed me too and ran towards me. We met halfway through, next to the right wing of the plane. She hugged me tightly
"Don't ever get kidnapped again." She whispered. I rolled my eyes and wiped away my tears.
"I'll do my best." I responded. She put her arm around me and lead me back to the rest of the group that was apparently waiting for me. But before I could see anyone Thor stepped forward and gave me one of his bear hugs. Which basically meant him almost breaking my spine.
"Niece! We have been looking for you." He said with a smile after he sat me back down on the ground again. I put my hand over the sore spot on my side and walked to the rest of the group. Literally every avenger was here, which seemed very unnecessary to me.
"Don't you have like an entire planet to protect?" I asked.
"We took a vacation day" Steve said and hugged me tightly. It reminded me of something that I forgot... The kiss! Shit, I totally forgot. When he released me my ribs really hurt. It became harder to hide. So I just put my hand over it again.
"You okay?" Steve asked. I laughed as I hurled over a bit.
"Do I have a story to tell you guys" I answered.
