A week.. the worst week of my entire life. Even remembering it made my skin crawl. I wasn't one to exaggerate but it was a living hell. That stupid crow, give it an inch it wants a mile. Well it wasn't giving me these ridiculous orders but still.
My first mission was a solo so I thought I'd get it done quickly but that just made it give me more and more missions. To be honest I had quite the kill streak.
I had just got up. My body mostly recovered from the drain. I quickly completed any morning traditions and then went back to lying on my bed. I was staying in a fairly small town. The pay I was getting from the corps was quite fair if not a bit small. But for a traveler like me it was enough.
I was more than confident another mission was coming up so my plan for the rest of the day was complete relaxation. And for once that actually happened. For one day I relaxed without interruption. The birds and chatter of the people below added a nice background noise.
Then the moon replaced the sun, using its light like a parasite. I had fallen asleep a few times throughout the day but I was completely awake the moment the crows wings approached me,foretelling horrors unspoken.
I got up. I quickly place my kimono over me and grabbed my nichirin blade in the corner of the elegant room. I stood facing the window. Suddenly a black dot appeared in-front. I couldn't help but let out a sigh.
Not even two days of rest after what they'd put me through. I was seriously considering sending a complaint to the corps leader, detailing how terrible his management of the corps was. But unfortunately I decided against it. It chaotically perched on my window. It nearly fell through. Despite being professionally trained it was still quite flawed.
"AYANOKOJI KIYOTAKA, MISSION,MISSION, YOU HAVE A MISSION SOUTH WEST OF HERE AS BACK UP. THERE MAYBE BE A MEMBER OF THE TWELVE KISUKI THERE. "MT NATAGUMO, HEAD TO MOUNT NATAGUMO" it squawked repeatedly. My mind went blank for a single moment. Another opportunity had presented itself to find him. This time id get the information I want. For the first time I was thankful for the crow.
I didn't have any time however. I created a picture of a mental map in my head as I leapt out of the window. I hurtled forward at close to maximum pace. I wanted to reserve some energy before the fight but I didn't have the option not to go all out. I assume that the some hashiras are heading there too and I couldn't allow them to clear up the commotion before I extracted my information.
I hadn't moved at top speed in months making it quite the shock to the system. I was most likely a blur to everyone around. I couldn't pick out many details from around but I had a general sense of direction. I entered the forest that lead to the gradual trail up the mounted.
That's where I paused to get a good idea of the situation. For the most part it was an average forest except the many dead body of slayers that hung on trees. I also noticed the spider webs that were weaved throughout the trees. I could tell that it's potential ability had to do with webs or string. I was confident they were sharp.
I began hearing a flurry of shockwaves throughout forest. The only confusing thing was that it came from multiple locations. It meant one of two things: either there were multiple demons or it could clone itself. I sprinted forward. I headed left where the loudest commotion was happening.
I carefully weaved out of the webs path ensuring that I didn't slow. Within seconds I appeared in front of the battle. Well it wasn't quite a battle, I would consider it to be more of a chase scene.
It was quite.. pathetic. A boar masked man hurtled away from a gigantic man spider. "This isn't good, this isn't good" the boar shouted. I examined the spiders eyes. There wasnt a symbol in a single one. I grunted. I'd do the slayer a favour.
I sprinted forward at a pace to which neither could calculate. I pulled my katana out. I silently glided behind it. I made sure It couldn't sense me. "Wind breathing second form: clean storm wind tree" Id prefer not to say my attack before it happened but old habits die hard. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. I completed a multitude of vertical and circular strikes to its body and finally its neck, slicing it clean off.
It's blood had flown onto my uniform which was quite annoying. Luckily it would disintegrate soon. I stayed there until it's head flopped to the ground and it's edges began to disintegrate. Honestly it was quite satisfying.
I closed my eyes. I listened. There were two other fights going on. Hopefully they weren't going as bad as this one had gone. East from here the sound of lightning struck me as particularly strange. I'd never seen a thunder breathing user in action. But for the most part he seemed to be holding his own. To the west of me I could hear large amounts of toppling trees. Along with multiple screams. Yeah.. I knew where I was heading next.
Before I sprinted off I just noticed the boar staring at me. How odd. I hurtled away towards the next commotion.
A/N: hello there!!! It's been a while. I kinda forgot about this project. I've been focusing on my yt channel a bit to much. But I'm back! I wish I could've made a larger chapter but I didn't want to put it off more so I decided this was the best course of action.
Thanks for reading
