Tomioka pov:
I sprinted through the overgrown forest that lead to the base of mount natagumo and where I may find one of the twelve kisuki.Kocho was right beside me and attempting to strike up a number of conversations. I had partially tuned her out. I appreciated her attempts to talk to me but my mind couldn't focus on it.The moon was extremely striking and dominated my peripheral vision. "Tomioka san are you perhaps ignoring me" she turned her attention away from the road ahead and towards me. Well, I didn't want to seem rude so I went with the obvious answer.
"No". From spending so much time around her I was able to tell she was ever so slightly annoyed despite her smile. I would say it was more eerie now.
"Please repeat what I said last then" she continued prodding. I was now stuck.
"I forgot" I attempted to pass it off as poor memory but as I sore kocho's smile strain I understood that hadn't worked.
"This is why nobody likes you tomioka san". What..that..can't..be..the..truth. I was suddenly thrown for a loop as we got within a couple of metres of the beginning of the mountain. I was about to respond and dispute her claims when we both stopped on instinct.
I sensed two presences either side of me. Unless they were extremely low level demons they hadn't concealed themselves on purpose, as if they had already anticipated what we would do next. Suddenly the presences disappeared without a trace.
I was immediately forced to dodge a tree that fell from my right. Whilst in mid air a number of roots sprung up from the ground. I centred myself. "Water breathing:eighth form: waterfall basin" I struck downwards and was able to keep them away. The roots flopped lifelessly to the ground. I landed.
I glanced to my left to see kocho, who had been dodging the roots on the ground. Without warning I couldn't breath anymore. There wasn't any oxygen around me. I stopped myself from breathing. I didn't know what they might've replaced the oxygen with so I wouldn't risk it. This wasn't exactly hard due to the steps it took to learn my breathing style.
I was attempting to figure out this demon's ability but I was coming to a blank without any the necessary information. It seemed partially based off of elements or the forest. The ground quaked. I leaped back and dodged a giant hand that shot up from the ground. Whilst it was still in the air it crumbled to ground without coming after me again.
I realised that I could now breath again. It was a rotating cycle. The only strange thing was the fact that he had stopped taking away oxygen. It was a useful ability against those who use breathing styles so why would he stop?
I glanced around the area. I noticed a small torch in between the trees. I sprinted forward in an attempt to take it out before it could even process my actions.
Something jumped infront of me. "Water breathing: first form: water surface slash" my blade was able to touch his neck. However, a wave of fire came my way. I dodged to my right. I felt the wave of heat pass me by. I knew kocho was in that direction but I was fairly confident she'd be alright with this. There attacks weren't especially strong but were enough to keep us away.
They must be lower moons, but even then it seemed unlikely they could be this powerful. I assumed Muzan had given them a heavy amount of blood before this. It was a scary thought but had Muzan planned this out? I hurtled out of the forest as the trees around me began to fall.
I skidded to a stop near kocho. She had been dealing with similar attacks but she had to dodge them all. There strategy was quite good. One demon controlled our environment and to stop us from getting close they had another lower moon protecting him.
I turned towards to her. "I need you to take care of the second demon, the one protecting the main one" if I had to admit anything it would be the fact that she was extremely quick and could most likely poison it before any attack was launched.
I sore her nod in my peripheral vision. If I was cold before I definitely wasn't anymore. Kocho rushed into the forest in the direction of the torch. I choose to go around and attack it from both directions. As I sprinted I realised some characteristics of his ability. He could only control one element at a time. He could only use the selected element for a couple of seconds.
I sore the torch light was approaching me quickly and I was able to get the first glimpse of the demon that had caused us such much trouble. It had multiple marks across his face and the symbol of lower moon six on his eye,the tips of his hair were orange.
His head snapped up. Fear clouded his eyes. I stood still "water surface slash" it's head flew into the air and stopped all elemental attacks. I looked around and sore kocho smiling at the decaying demon. In these moments she was extremely terrifying. She looked at me and waved.
We began to exit the forest and when we did we sore another demon slayer carrying two people on his back. The strange thing was that I recognised the ones on his back. Nesuko and tanjiro.
A/N: we'll that's where the two was when ayanokoji was soloing the spider demons. I had to give the two lots of muzans blood because otherwise they wouldn't be able to hold giyuu and Shinobu for enough time.
