Chapter Fourteen

Sunday, June 2nd, 1988

Atlanta

Graduation day

Ryker's POV

Taking a deep breath as I looked at myself in the mirror, I smoothed out my graduation gown not believing that I was finally going to graduate, and it was all because of Cami. I don't know what I would do if it wasn't for her coming into my life. This was going to be a day to remember, of course coming third when Wilde Fire gets signed and Cami and I get married.

As the thought of marriage crossed my mind, I couldn't help but smile, I knew Cami was the one from the moment I first kissed her. I never thought about marriage till I met her, she changed me for the better.

A knock then sounded at my door interrupting my thoughts "Come in!" I yelled.

The door then opened revealing Vinny's mom, Veronica, also one of my mom's best friends. I smiled at her as she walked in, since Vinny and I have been friends she has always been like a second mother to me. "Good Morning! Just wanted to check in and see if you needed any help getting ready for today" she said walking over to me.

"I'm okay, honestly in disbelief that this day is finally here," I told her laughing "I wish my mom was here to see it."

She smiled at me sadly "I wish she was here too, your mother was always a ray of sunshine" she said "but I know she would have been so proud of you and everything you achieved to get to this day Ry"

I smiled at her "I know she would be and I know she is looking down on me on this day" I said to her. She smiled back at me "You know she always told me you were going to make it in the world"

I turned around and looked at her confused "when did she say that?" I asked her

"Anytime, your mother would come over while I was pregnant with Vinny, she would always say that you were her little rockstar and you were going to make the Wilde name proud," she said smiling "and you really are making her and the Wilde name proud"

I smiled at her once again getting emotional as I hugged her, and we just stood there holding onto each other in silence as we both cried, after a few minutes I let her go "thank you for everything" I told her sniffling as I wiped away my tears

"Of course, you know how much we love you; we'd do anything for you," she said rubbing her hands up and down my arms "Now as to not ruin my makeup anymore" she laughed wiping away her tears "James and I have something for you downstairs," she said

I looked at her confused but followed her nonetheless downstairs. As we got downstairs, I got even more confused than I was before as I saw James, Vinny's dad, and Vinny standing there smiling "what's going on?" I asked

James stepped forward with an envelope in his hands "Ryker, you have always been like a second son that Veronica and I never had, and an older brother to Vinny" he started "and talking as a family, we would love to make that official" he said as he gave me the envelope

I took the envelope from his hands confused but began to open it. As I opened the envelope, I pulled out the papers and the first three words caught me by surprise

Application for Adoption

I looked up at them in shock, "you want to adopt me?" I asked them getting tears in my eyes, they smiled at me and nodded "we wouldn't love anything more, it's what your mother would've wanted" Veronica said

"But, but what about my dad?" I asked them

"It's been taken care of" James breathed "he won't interfere, he knew this was what was best for both of you," he said "so what do you say? I know you are ninetee-"

I cut James off by hugging him tightly "I would love to be a part of your family, I don't care how old I am, you have been more of a father to me these past few weeks and years than my own dad" I told him pulling back from the hug "I love you guys"

They all smiled "now let's go get you two graduated!"

We all cheered as we walked out of the house, this day just got better. I'm finally going to have a real family again.
