A seasonal anonymous request. Hope this is sort of what you wanted :-)

Could be a prequel to my Loki one shot 'Blue' if you like 🤷‍♀️

Sorry it's not up to my usual quality, I wrote it over the breaks I had during a course I'm on, had to get it done in time for Halloween 😅 There will be mistakes I'm so sorry 😭😅

__________

Context:

Whilst imprisoned at Stark Tower for his attack against New York in Avengers, Loki befriends the maid, Y/N. When October 31st comes around, Y/N thinks it would be fun to introduce Loki to his first Halloween.

__________

"What's Trick Or Treating?" Loki turns from the window as Y/N closes the door behind her. He'd been watching the brittle trees below sway as a cool October breeze rakes them of their last remaining leaves.

Rather than settling into pleasing heaps, they wilt as soon as they grace the pavement. It has been a wet autumn, the sky remaining a heavy, slowly leaking sheet of grey for several weeks now. By the second week, the sombre streets of New York were trimmed with muddy heaps of leaf pulp, and by the third, simply mud, squashed by passing yellow cabs and mushed up hundreds of busy feet.

With the changing of the seasons, the city is finally beginning to recover from the events caused by an item known as the Tesseract. Destroyed buildings are pushing back into the horizon like resilient flowers, torn roads are smooth with fresh tar, and anxiety is melting into excitement for the coming holidays.

On her way to Stark Tower this morning, Y/N had even passed some pumpkins, carved and set out on porches, soon-to-be shining beacons promising sweets to eager children.

Y/N wipes her feet on the doormat, a few wads of wet leaves still clinging to her boots even after taking a lift and two flights of stairs.

After weeks of cleaning his temporary apartment prison, Y/N has grown used to Loki's rather blunt greetings---or lat thereof. He seems to start conversations as if they're already in the middle of one---as if she'd never left the night before, her cleaning supplies under one arm, his laundry under another.

"It's a tradition where children go knocking on strangers' doors at night---" Y/N explains, and Loki cuts her off, his expression a comical combination of surprised and appalled.

"Children knocking on strangers' doors? Is that wise?" He crosses the room, joining Y/N at the little kitchenette.

She likes to begin cleaning at the sink and work her way around, but there's never really much work to do.

When she had begun as the caretaker of Loki's rooms, Y/N had been apprehensive to push the key into the lock. His brother, Thor had explained his innocence, but she had, after all, watched the news in horror as the man she's supposed to take care of lead an army that decimated her city.

However, each day, she'd usually find him more or less in the same spot she'd left him; laying on the bed, looking slightly ill; white and sweaty, his main hobby appearing to be sleeping. Any fear she'd harboured melted into pity, and she was glad when, after several good meals and a shower, he'd taken to amusing himself by tidying his temporary living space.

This of course means that Y/N---as Loki's assigned caretaker---has little to do---

---but she won't tell that to her employer, Tony Stark.
