Chapter 9 -- "Fun-tasy"

Chapter 9                             

It was already 3 o’clock in the morning, but Hollie couldn’t sleep. She went out of her room and decided to stay at the terrace. She passed by Josh’s room but she didn’t attempt to knock. She knew Josh was still very weak and needs a lot of rest. As she arrived at the terrace, she sat on the wooden chair and enjoyed the fresh and cool breeze. It was her 5th time in Hawaii but she has never been to this place—a remote island blessed with nature’s abundance.

Then, she finally had her phone back on and started calling the important people in her life, except Morgan. She heard anxious words but later on, words of understanding and support made her felt relieved. It was so hard to tell them the truth but she had to. She loves Josh and she won’t permit that she’ll be at the losing end.

“Hey…” she heard someone behind her. Her heart leapt recognizing Josh’s voice. She turned quickly with her eyes closed.

“Yep…” she replied controlling her tears. She opened her eyes and saw Josh in front of her.

“Why are you still awake?” he asked in confusion.

“I got a thousand reasons but seeing you now out of bed removes all the sadness I feel…” she smiled wanting to hug him.

“Oh… but I just can’t remember you. I’m trying..”Josh said looking at her deeply.

“It’s an effect of the accident you encountered the other day. I will help you recover. “ she said with eagerness.

“Are you my girlfriend, my wife or what?” he wrinkled.

“Oh not yet..” she laughed a little. “Just kidding..I mean, no I’m not. I’m just your best friend….” She suddenly said with a change of facial expression.

“Best friend? Since when?”

“Since American Idol 2012…would you like to have coffee so that we can talk a lot of things? I will prepare a coffee for you..” she offered and walked towards the kitchen.

“Wait… Hollie..” he said. She was surprised that he mentioned her name.

“Yes…” she said in teary eyed.

“Could you kiss me?’ he asked.

“What?” he asked in astonishment.

“Coz I can feel that there’s more of what we were… you won’t be here if there’s none. I think I should remember a very significant thing…” he reasoned.

“Significant thing?” she echoed not moving in her place.

“Yeah.. are we that best friends in love?” he asked walking towards her.

She was silenced and was panicking. She didn’t know where to start. Then, suddenly she realized that Josh was right in front of her again and their faces were inches apart.

“Again, can I kiss you?” he asked.

She felt her knees shaking as he kissed her without waiting for her response.

It was more than a dreamlike experience for two hearts whose love for each other had been suppressed for years. Hollie felt like her face was burning red. If not for the thud heard from the kitchen, the pleasure brought by the kiss would have not been interrupted.

"I think I have to check it out.." she whispered. Josh's arms were still around her.

"I'll kill whoever is in there.." he frowned.

She just beamed and walked towards the kitchen.

"I don't know...nothing fell or dropped in here.." she said while checking.
