Lloyd's POV
"Go ahead. Just think about my offer."
My hands moved idly across the strings of the guitar, plucking at them in familiar motions I hardly felt.
Just think about my offer.
Offer?
What had Leo and Harumi been talking about before she collapsed, before I arrived? What had happened at the ball? My mind spun with those thoughts, replaying over and over the Autumn ball events. I wasn't sure what it meant, or why Harumi was so upset when I took her to the garden. Our argument....or chat or whatever we had there had only managed to confuse me some more.
"Aaaare you going to actually play something or just pluck E over and over? Maybe if you're really focused, you could create a song with one note," Kai said sarcastically, his voice breaking through my thoughts. I blinked as my surroundings came into focus again. I realized I was still in Kai's room, sitting across from him on his bed as he read a comic. My comic book in fact.
I looked down at my fingers, realizing that I was constantly playing E.
"Oh, oops," I muttered, not exactly caring. That definitely threw Kai off. He squinted his eyes, staring at me as though he could see into my head.
"Oops? You mean that was an accident?" A look of enlightenment crossed his face. "Ooooh, maybe you were trying to see if it's possible to make an H note. You know, for Haru-"
"Okay! I get it! Here, I'm playing something," I said loudly, leaning over the guitar and playing a quick little blues piece. After I finished, I flopped backwards onto the bed, leaving the guitar by Kai's feet.
"So, have you talked to her since you got back?" Kai asked while grabbing his instrument and hanging it back on the wall.
"Not exactly." I said, keeping my tone low. Kai moved next to me, leaning over and forcing me to look him in the face. He cocked his head.
"Not exactly means no. What happened to you guys at the ball?" He asked, fixing me in a stare. I wasn't even sure how to respond to that. I turned my gaze away from Kai and stared at the fan blades on the ceiling, watching them spin about.
"Stuff," I answered flatly, hoping he'd drop it.
"Did you guys get into an argument? Did she yell at you?" I shook my head at Kai's assumptions, still focused on the ceiling.
"We... We talked about her memory... And how it's coming back... She said she wanted to make up for everything... Then we hugged," I said everything in a monotoned voice, not exactly paying attention to what I was saying. I was still in a daze, the fan the only thing that had my focus.
"Oh! So then it wasn't anything bad. See yo-"
"She then abruptly pulled away and decided she wanted to go home. Her face seemed worried before it went blank again. I hate it when she does that." Kai didn't move from his spot. I could see in my peripheral vision that he was a little concerned about my demeanor.
"Hate it when she does what?" He asked. I sat up, feeling a little dizzy and lightheaded at the sudden move.
"When she hides her emotions. She does it too much. Sometimes it drives me crazy!" I grumble, raising and tensing my hands as I spoke.
