Lloyd's POV

Chaos. That's all that was around me. My surroundings were crumbled gray walls and an indistinct mob of gray and blue colored people as prisoners and guards fought for control. My ears were ringing from all the shouting, including the screams of a few other fugitives who were suffering from dislocated joints and broken bones. The scene was unsettling to say the least, but after fighting crime for years, I've become desensitized from all of it.

I blocked an attack from one fugitive with my arm, then easily kneed him in the stomach, causing him to stumble away and upchuck his lunch. I quickly averted my gaze else where to avoid feeling a wave of nausea myself. No sooner had I looked away than when I came face to face with Killow.

I blinked my eyes once to orient myself as the huge man towered over me. I had a split second to observe that he was dressed in a prison uniform, shooting me a hatful glare, and holding a large piece of wood that was heading straight for my head. My body reacted before I could register the danger and I sailed in a backflip over the board.

When I landed, I smoothly drew my dao and blocked his back stroke, cutting the board in half. Killow growled and threw it aside before swinging an over head punch with his arm, which would have knocked me out had it made contact with my head. Luckily, I ducked under it, avoiding his fist and jabbed my elbow into his diaphragm. The short sharp blow was enough to make Killow stumble back, wheezing for air.

I was about to follow up on my advantage until a warning shout alerted me of enemies behind. I dodged to the left, using a half broken wall to leap over a group of five fugitives who had tried to surround me. My leap put me behind them, which added to their confusion. Using my energy, I blasted two of them aside leaving them unconscious. Before I could take care of the rest, a wave of water washed the three in front of me, and Killow, away.

I glanced up to the half wall where Nya stood perched on top, her figure outlined by the sun. "That's 17 for me," She called, her voice was loud and energetic, probably fueled by adrenaline. I rolled my eyes at Nya at the same time I dodged a flying brick.

"That's great, I'm at 19," I retorted, pitching my voice loud so she could hear me. Nya flipped off the wall and landed by me, just as Cole took her place. The black ninja had been using his elemental power to make a temporary wall and stop more prisoners from escaping while the rest of us ninja battled the inmates already out. I guessed he was finished as he sent another man flying.

"That's no fair. I've been repairing the walls and only got 8," Cole shouted, his powerful voice easily reaching us over the chaos. I grinned under my mask at his words, just as Kai flew by, desperately clinging to an inmate with a jet pack. I recognized the bright red mowhawk to be Miss Demeanor, a small time crook. How she even got her hands on anything remotely electronic was beyond me, and it didn't matter. Kai easily ripped out a cord, sending the two of them straight for the ground.

Again, I reacted on instinct, my focus as leader was to prevent casualties, and it fueled my actions. As Kai plummeted uncontrollably towards the ground, I used the small amount of control I had over the ice element, and started making a slide to break his fall. The ice chilled my skin as I used it, but it was working. Nya helped me by forming water that I froze, the ice containing a hint of emerald as a reflection of my element. Our powers worked, and Kai and Miss Demeanor slid to the ground, right at our feet.

Miss Demeanor was the first on her feet, but before she could fight anyone, I knocked her out with the back of my dao, preventing another escapee. I glanced down at Kai, and saw Nya helping him up. The fire ninja seemed fine, and was in fact grinning as he walked towards me. Nya quickly darted away to help Jay who was struggling against a group of skeletons.
