Garmadon's POV
"Darkness, death, destruction. Darkness, death, destruction." The voices hissed inside my head in an unyielding scream, repeating those three words. I clenched my two hands into fists, and took a deep breath, forcing the mumble of words to the back of my mind where they became a distant hum.
"Brother, did you hear me?" Wu's voice interrupted my mental mishap, further drowning out the voices. I opened my eyes and glanced up, meeting his stare from across the wooden table we sat at.
"No, I was too busy trying to ignore your chicken to pay attention," I said, not even bothering to mask the spark of annoyance in my voice. The chicken I spoke of let out a squawk of indignation before walking out of the library.
At my response, my brother sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, clearly running low on patience. The ninja must have drained all of it. "I said, if you are ready, bring Harumi and Lloyd in here so we can discuss the problem at hand," Wu repeated, his own voice reflecting a tone of frustration.
"About time," I muttered under my breath, ignoring the glare I received from Misako.
I stood up and made my way to the open archway, feeling relieved that I could finally stand after sitting crisscrossed for what felt like hours. We had been in Wu's library going over and over again about Harumi and Lloyd's strange connection. Had Misako not been so obstinate and questioning, we probably would have been done half an hour ago.
As I slowly strolled down the hallway, one of my hands traced the woodwork along the walls. The old version of this Monastery was what me and Wu built together over the course of a couple centuries. How or where my brain remembered that, I don't know. My whole life from the moment Harumi resurrected me has been like that. Memories that floated around my brain plagued me, only a shadow of what they should have been.
I could remember that Wu was my brother, Misako my ex wife, and Lloyd our son. But the experiences I've had with them in my past life are vague memories at best. I was left with just the bits and pieces of my former life, cursed to have no memory, but still live as though I did.
I took a turn down the hall, when a sound caught my ear.
A faint strumming tune that only a guitar could make. Or at least that's what I remembered. The melody was familiar, but I couldn't hunt down how or why I knew it. Filled with curiosity, I followed the sound to a closed door where the music was strongest. It took me a minute, but I realized the tune was coming from my son's room.
I placed my eye against the door crack and peaked in to see him sitting on his bed, Lloyd's hands moving effortlessly across the strings.
Just that sight alone sparked the memory I had been searching for.
"Ok Lloyd, you have my attention. What song did you learn?" My voice was light with humor as I observed my son who sat across from me with his wooden guitar. Lloyd grinned and leaned over the wooden instrument, his fingers poised to play.
"An awesome song that Kai taught me. You need to learn the second guitar part so we can both play it," He claimed, right before he started to pluck the strings.
That's where the melody was from.
It was smooth yet jaunty, one that would get stuck in my head if I wasn't careful. My son's face radiated joy at his ability to play the piece, keeping his focus on his finger placement on the frets.
