Chapter 17 ♠️ We're Both Lost

You got dressed. You went to find Rouxls, he looked worried but you had work. You did it, forgetting to eat most meals, wasted your free time, kept working, your coworkers were worried. Went to visit Jevil. He was waiting for you.

You froze in place. He was bouncing a ball up and down just like last time you both talked. A lot of weeks ago now.

You got closer to him, when the moment came both of you were looking at each other.

"It's not fun huh?" He said seriously. "How long has it been, been?" He asked.

"...A month maybe?" Your throat was sore.

"Imagine decades." He said, the only sound in the room was the ball bouncing on the floor. "Imagine being like this for decades, decades. Then when all hope was lost a glimmer of chance appeared." He stopped bouncing the ball "Then that glimmer of hope disappears in the matter of 3 days." He said angrily.

"..." You felt horrible, tears threatened to fall.

"You really lack empathy Y/N. I always felt pity for you. But I bet you didn't think about me a single time until you needed me."

"I'm sorry Jevil. I really am." You said crying.

"I know you are." He sighed. "But now I know we're in the same situation, so even if you don't have empathy, don't worry about it, we're in similar places." He smiled. "I'm glad to have you back, back" He laughed.

You looked at him confused, was he just forgiving you like that? "But I- I shouldn't be forgiven"

"You really shouldn't. But no one else is going to talk to you, are there?" He asked, smiling.

"I guess you're right"

"Of course I'm right, I'm always right" He smiled.

You don't know why, but that sentence cheered you up. A faint smile could be seen on your face. You laughed weakly. "You really are." You brushed away your tears. "I'm sorry Jevil, I really am. I'm an idiot, I know."

"You are quite the imbecile, yes." He laughed.

"I'm glad to have you back, you bastard" You said in a more happy manner, you laughed together.

"Wanna play, play?" He asked, offering you the ball through the bars.

"Always." You grabbed the ball and he backed away, far enough to have a challenge but close enough to be possible.

You threw the ball at him and he threw it back, the motion was now unconscious. "What have you been doing this entire time?" He asked.

"I... Don't know." You said. You laughed together. "What did you do?"

"Me? Oh, nothing of importance. What I've been doing for years, years."

"Which is?"

"Memorizing more decks" He laughed smugly.

"Of course you have!" You smiled.

"Did you visit Seam, Seam?" He asked.

"No I haven't." You said "I should go check on him, do you want me to tell him anything?"

Jevil thought for some time "No. It's fine, fine."

"Come on, there's gotta be something you wanna tell him."

"I don't- OW!" The ball hit against the bar and hit him in the head, it was the first expression of pain you heard from Jevil.

"Are you alright?" You asked, getting closer to him.

"I'm fine, fine!" He smiled back.

"I didn't remember you having such a bad aim." You joked. Jevil laughed before throwing the ball at your head, fortunately you ducked on time "Dang, you are bad" You said.

Jevil got closer to you as well "Sure thing Y/N, sure thing" You were in front of each other. You didn't know why but you two always stood incredibly close to each other. "Can you tell Seam I said hello?"

"Sure, but uh, quick question. Why are we always so close?"

"It's not like you're walking away, away" He smiled getting even closer.

"Well I'm not gonna chicken out" You said getting closer as well.

You were both smiling deviously, you could feel the other's breath on yourselves. Your smile started to fade and so did Jevil's. You stared. His eyes were weird, you had still to see a pupil there, something that indicated that he isn't blind, his nose was pointy, his lips were on yours.

You don't know how it happened, you both did it on instinct, his lips were surprisingly soft, your eyes were closed and you were blushing, it would've been more romantic if there weren't literal jail bars between you two.

You pulled apart after some time, both of you opening your eyes slowly. A surprised expression on both of your faces. You stared at each other for some time, not sure what to do. You didn't expect to see such an expression on Jevil, a blush across his face along with an unsure manner.

"Why did we do that..?" He asked, confused.

"I don't know" You laughed awkwardly "I guess it's what happens when you're always 1 centimeter away from the other" You said

Jevil looked completely lost in thought, it was so fun seeing him so flabbergasted, you now understood why he always laughed at you. "I uh... I think I should sleep, sleep" He said blushing even deeper, trying to put a smile on his face.

"Oh. Uh... Okay!" You didn't know if that was a good or a bad thing.

"Don't get me wrong! I liked it, it!" He said quickly, grabbing your shoulders "But I..." He trailed off, his grip loosening. "I don't know what..." He sounded incredibly confused, disturbed even.

"Hey it's alright!" You said smiling, it felt like your personalities were backwards. He cupped your face with his hands and stared at you.

"I really want to be out now, now." He said laughing, you laughed as well with him. "I think we should sleep, both of us, us." He said putting his hands off of you and grabbing the bars instead.

"I guess you're right." You smile. You stared at each other for a few good seconds before any of you moved. "I'm gonna go up to my room. I'll see you tomorrow" You said walking backwards, the moment you came in contact with the stairs you turned back to make sure you didn't trip.

On the elevator trip you put your hands on your cheeks and smiled to yourself like an idiot. You quickly made it to your room and closed the door behind you. You threw yourself on the bed and squeaked like a teenage kid, kicking your legs into the air like an idiot. You could barely sleep that night, but it was for a good cause unlike the last weeks.

You got up and got dressed. You went to find Rouxls for your duties, he looked confused upon your new behaviour but relieved nonetheless. You did your work and tried hard to make good food for yourself. You decided to use your free time to make plans for upcoming days, your coworkers were happy to see you change. Before going to meet Jevil, you decided to go meet Seam, you weren't going to say the obvious but you were going to go visit him.
