"Oh. Right." You came back to yourself "I think you're..." You thought about what to say. "Cute" You smiled.

"Didn't you accuse me of murder a few days ago, ago?"

"Do you want that to still be a recurring theme in our talks or what?"

"No, no, just saying."

--------------------------------------------------------------

"Ok funny man, what else?"

"Are we glossing over that, that?" He asked with a light blush.

"For both of our sakes, I think it's the best option" You answered. "Jevil, can I ask a question instead?" You asked.

"Why of course!" He replied, smiling.

You smiled at the charming gesture "It might turn dark though" You laughed awkwardly.

"I'll take the challenge, challenge!" He said putting his hands in fists and punching one in front of him as if he was fighting the air before laughing and putting his hands back on their previous place. He put them in front of his legs upon sitting in the criss-cross position.

You mimicked his sitting and laughed to yourself before you turned serious. "Jevil, I... I don't want to sound rude, but--well, maybe I just sound dumb" You laughed, he laughed with you, confused. "After all you've told me a thousand times. I guess? Anyways, what... Happened?" You simply questioned once more.

Sure, you might've asked him before, but did you honestly get an answer? You saw Jevil's excited smile fade quickly, the sight made you sadden "What do you want to know, know?" He asked, monotone.

"I know you uh, well, went insane basically, but um... Why? What happened prior to that?".

You saw Jevil look down before breathing and letting out a loud sigh. He didn't look back at you, instead his sight was locked on something, not on an element of reality, but on a memory he looked for in his brain. "It's kind of fuzzy, fuzzy" he started, making you perk up "It was long ago, and I haven't thought about it since... I don't know, know." He kept going.

You stared puzzled, you were glad he was acting like this. Although it scared you whenever he grew serious it meant you were getting a genuine answer.

"Long ago, back when I still worked as the king's jester alongside Seam as the magician, I had a revelation. One day, as I was heading to the castle--no, I was sleeping." It seems as if he had a tough time remembering "When I was sleeping, I saw--I heard this voice. Bunch of jumbled up words, words. No, they weren't even words, it was like garbage noise. Interference."

You realized his habit of repeating words increased when he was happy or suffering an extreme emotion of sorts? It also faded when he faded to gray in a sort of way, the more monochrome he was, the less he did it.

"Anyway. This thing? This noise, it startled me, I couldn't understand it and yet it drove me insane, insane. I wanted to wake up... Or did I wake up to it? No. I heard it in my dream-err, nightmare. It made my head ring, it hurt, I stood like that for hours? Maybe they were a few seconds, then I woke up. I was scared I believe? I remember hearing the same noise again, now awake. Yeah, that's how it went, went."

You listened carefully so as to not miss any details of his past.

"I was afraid. It followed me. I wasn't able to recognize the source of it. But I was able to start making out words. I understand it now. It told me... The truth? Or what I suppose is the truth? It said this, thing. We're not real, we're part of a game, game. Everything is determined by numbers and statistics. EXP. LOVE. I don't know what it said to me precisely but back then, it made sense."
