~Prior Note~
{To anyone wanting a more physical appearance of Dally, it is above. All credit goes to the artist whose signature is on his shoulder (Levi's Pockets). However, in this story, it goes more with the book so he has lighter blonde hair and ice-blue eyes!}

Johnny managed to ease my nerves for the night. Once dinner was over, we all hung around the living room. The news was on the TV as it always was and everyone had something to say about it. Even Johnny. I sat on Dally's knee, the couch taken up by Soda, Sandy, and Pony. My brothers didn't favor my position, but they held their tongues. Thankfully.
I leaned back against Dally as I wrote in my pocket notebook. Words spilled out onto the pages but made no sense. Well, to anyone but me. I was going to turn this into a story. I just had to get my thoughts out first.
"Why are you writing all that nonsense?" His voice was low in my ear. Shivers ran all through my body as I glanced back into his ice-blue eyes.
I reply, "I'm gonna write a story with it. I just have to get everything out first."
"A story? I didn't know you liked to write?"
I smile down at the notebook. "I'm trying something new." I wrote a few more words and names down. My parents kept appearing over and over. I gotta write about them.
"Are you thinkin' of publishin' it?"
I shrugged. "I dunno. Maybe. I'd have to publish under a male name though. No one will read it if they know a woman wrote it."
He chuckled. "I suppose so." We all sat around for a little longer until Darry finally told Ponyboy and I to go to sleep. I said goodbye to everyone and Pony and I vanished into our room.
I pulled on my nightgown and sat at the vanity, brushing out my hair with a grin on my face. Dally sure knows how to make my mind run wild. Good lord. I applied face cream as I thought more about Dally. I haven't had a boyfriend before and I know my path shouldn't be steered towards Dally, but I can't help it when my mind drifts to him late at night.
"What are ya thinkin' about over there, Ly?" I looked over at my twin. He was sitting on our bed, stripped down to his underwear. "You've been staring at your reflection for a while."
I shook my head. "Nothing important."
"You sure?"
"Yeah. Just...school. We have a month, but I don't want to take a month thinking of my prompt. I want to start working on the prompt now."
"You have that little notebook. Why not write from there?"
I shook my head. "That's a personal idea. Too personal."
"I'm sure you're going to think of something soon." I walked over to the bed and crawled in next to him. I rested on my side as he draped his arm over my neck and hugged me from behind. I stared at the moonlight flooding into the room and I tried to think of ways to ease myself to sleep. I wasn't tired. I closed my eyes and finally drifted off.
The next morning, I managed to beat my alarm clock by ten minutes. The birds were chirping out our window as the smell of bacon danced into the room. I remained laying next to Ponyboy and enjoyed the time to myself. Maybe I could get to see Dally more today.
"Are you awake?" I was startled by Pony's croaking voice.
"Yeah. I just woke up."
"You sure you're okay? You were spacing off last night."
