CHAPTER 1

She stepped out of the airport with a bittersweet smile. Coming back to Paris felt good, but not seeing him when she got out of the plane hurt. She had left three months ago and she didn't regret her decision, but then again, Adrien had promised to pick her up and he wasn't there. He had texted her earlier, saying his photoshoot would be taking longer than expected, but she had still hoped to see him run to her once she arrived.

Their relationship was going through a rough patch, but she still loved him, with all of her heart and believed they could fix anything, they were Ladybug and Chat Noir, he was her best friend and the love of her life, no argument would break them.

He didn't want her to leave to New York for this internship, but even Gabriel had pushed her to go and tried to convince his son to change his mind, to see the opportunity Audrey Bourgeois was offering to Marinette, but nothing could make the young man change his mind. What Audrey Bourgeois was offering her was too big to ignore. They had fought over it for two weeks until she took the decision to go, whether he liked it or not.

She loved him, but she didn't want to let her boyfriend, well now fiancé, stop her from getting closer to her goal, to her dream. So with the support of her parents, her friends, Gabriel and Nathalie, she left for three months, to learn about fashion in New York, with Style Queen. The Miracle Box in her suitcase and Tikki in her purse.

Now she was back and only wanted to get home, hoping Adrien would be back in time for dinner. She called a cab and she made way to her and Adrien's apartment. Unfortunately, she didn't see him that night, only waking up next to him in the morning and when she got out of the shower he was already gone.

Folding Adrien's last t-shirt and putting it in his drawer, Marinette thought about the last three years and how their lives had changed so rapidly, with Gabriel giving up his Miraculous, moving in together a year ago and now that they have been engaged for 6 months. Marinette had started to think about the design she wanted for her wedding dress, but none of the ones she had made felt right. She had an appointment with Gabriel that afternoon to brainstorm about the venue, decoration and Adrien's suit and her dress. His input really made her relax and he helped her take decisions, when she was not sure about some things, it was really appreciated.

Since he stopped being ShadowMoth, he really had changed. The day the two heroes learned that the designer was their enemy, they had prepared a battle plan has a last resort, but they wanted to talk to him and see why he had been looking for their Miraculous for the last six years. Once they were able to calm him down, with Nathalie's help, Gabriel had showed him his lair and Emilie's coffin. Marinette had tried for weeks to find a way to wake her up, but they were too late, all of her organs had shot down after a couple of years and now even if they work her up from her magical coma, she would be left in a medical one, until she died.

Gabriel, with the help of the kwamis, like Wayzz, Sass and Tikki, understood the price he would have to pay if he did make the wish and that day gave up being Paris supervillain. Marinette had left Nooroo and Duusu at the Agreste Manor, keeping a close eye on them, while they connected in a new way with their holders. After a year, the two kwamis went back to the box and Gabriel decided to try having a better relationship with Adrien, but his son didn't really take the time to see him, mostly enjoying his time with his friends. Marinette on the other hand had been his intern and was now his fellow designer, working together on almost everything and since Adrien had taken over the business portion of the 'Gabriel' brand, his father could concentrate all his time and efforts into designing.
