CHAPTER 11

Adrien waked into the apartment and when he saw nobody was home, he got in the shower to get ready for a party on the Liberty boat. Lila was with Nino and Alya and they were supposed to meet there before the Kitty Section show, around 19h30. He tried calling for Plagg, but he didn't get an answer, so he assumed the small god had gone with Marinette for the day. While brushing his teeth and combing his hair, he noticed the positive pregnancy test inside a drawer, panicking he set it back down and left for the party.

On his way, Adrien was analysing the situation the best he could. He knew for a fact that the test was Marinette's, because she was the only other woman who had ever went to their apartment, aside from Alya, Sabine and Nathalie. He was going to be a father and he wasn't sure what to do about it.

He'll have to start with his job and being more serious in the company, to assure their finances will be alright. He could stop modeling to have more time home and the parties would need to be at a minimal, to help Marinette. When he parked his car and stepped out he found his friends already waiting for him and he made his way to them.

Nino fist bumped him frowning, like ready the emotions on his face and the conflict going on inside of him. His thoughts were interrupted by the sharp nails of Lila cutting through his skin and without thinking he pushed her off.

"Stop it! It's over Lila!"

"What!?" the scream that flew out of her mouth almost sounding like the whining of a banshee.

"You and I, the sex, all of it! It's over, I'm engaged and I love Marinette! Please, leave me alone," she started crying and he left going back to his car, but before he could drive away Nino opened the passenger door and upped in.

"What's going on, dude? I thought you and Mari were over a long time ago!"

"It never was... I always loved her and only her..." the silence and the confused look on his best friend's face, made Adrien sigh.

"The only reason I slept with Lila was for revenge. When she left for New York I was hurt and I blamed everything after on her, but the truth is... I fucked up, Nino! Like big time!" putting his head in his hands, he wanted to cry, but he was not the one who had been played. He needed to find his fiancée quickly.

"She's pregnant Nino. Marinette is pregnant and I'm in love with her! I was an idiot to even do what I did. So either you come with me or you get out of my car, because I have to find her," he started the engine and as soon as Nino was out, he was gone. The bakery was closed at this time, so the only place she could be was the mansion, so the fifteen minutes ride took him five, barging inside his childhood home, surprising both Nathalie and Gorilla.

Adrien didn't said anything, going straight for his father's office, hoping to find Marinette working with him on a project. So he was surprised to be meet with Gabriel standing and looking at his mother's painting, with a cup of tea.

"Father, have you seen Marinette?" asked Adrien.

"Oh, how are you son?"

"Where is Marinette, Father?"

"Oh yeah! We dropped her off to the train station, two days ago, with Tom and Sabine," said Gabriel with a smile. His tone and nonchalance stunned Adrien more than anything.

"What? Why? Where is she? Do you know she's pregnant?"

"Yes, we know about the baby and we know where she is. You don't have to worry about any of it. But why all those questions? Shouldn't you be with Rossi or one of your friends?" his father was not answering any of his questions and the way he mentioned Lila and his friends felt like venom and contempt.

Without another word, Adrien went back to his apartment, hoping to find a clue on where Marinette was. He was determined to find his Lady and he would even bring back Chat Noir if he had to.

When he made it, he looked around every room, only realizing she had packed all her things, leaving behind his and some common furniture. He sat in the bed and looked in his drawer for his Miraculous, but neither Plagg of the ring was there, instead the found the engagement ring he had bought for Marinette almost two years ago now and a letter, for him. Reading this letter was the hardest thing he had to do, alongside burring his mother, he had lost the most precious thing he had, because he had been immature and stupid. Alone in his apartment, reading the letter over and over again, the former hero was devastated, contemplating how much his partner, lover and best friend had made his life perfect and how he had miss his chance. She was happy without him...

My dear Kitty,

I once believed nothing would come between us. I had found the love of my life, a partner and a best friend with you. After everything we went through together, I believed nothing could break us, we were Adrien and Marinette, Ladybug and Chat Noir.

Today, I'm leaving and never coming back. I'm starting a new life and it seems like you already started yours without me months ago. We haven't seen each other since I left for my internship in New York and even when I tried, you kept me at a far distance, not even returning to my calls or my texts. You didn't even come home at night, where I waited for you every night, for so long.

I now believe, that without Ladybug and Chat Noir, fighting side by side, we were never really meant to be more than a teenage love story.

I'm leaving and starting a new life and I'm letting you go.

Can you believe I was mostly relieved when I caught you having sex with Lila at the Mansion? Sure, I was angry and mad at you, but relieved because now I know marrying you would've been a mistake. Relieved because now I can fully live my life and have a family of my own.

Relieved because I never loved you the way I love him.

Be reassure, he threats us right, he is loving, patient and caring. He loves us so much, even your father and Nathalie are fond of him.

Adrien, we will probably see one another again and I will stay civil, but I'm sorry to say that I will never be able to be your friend or partner again, after what you did. You knew how much I hate liars, yet you became one the moment you decided to sleep with Lila, maybe you two are really made for each other after all.

Goodbye Adrien, enjoy your life and freedom, because I certainly will enjoy mine.
