• Nadia's POV •
♫ Bright Lights, Bigger City - CeeLo Green.Nat and Steve had left Tony & I alone to give us some privacy. It really seemed like a private moment so they went back to join the rest of the team. It plays on my mind how that conversation may go, about what they've just witnessed, whether I have changed their opinion of me. Scared them..
Tony had eventually managed to calm me down. The two of us spent the rest of the afternoon in his lab. He let me help him with one of his many new inventions and we threw tools back and forth to each other for a good few hours, tinkering away at various things while he blasted a never ending playlist full of AC/DC, Metallica, Queen and even Thin Lizzy, through overhead speakers.
It was kind of wholesome, momentarily filling the parental void I have always coveted at the time I needed it the most.
Feeling too overwhelmed to face the others, I made my way back to my room, showering and pulling on the lightest, least restrictive clothing I could find, settling on some pyjama shorts and a cami top with spaghetti straps.
My curly hair winds down around my face as it dries naturally and I lay a blanket out on the floor, lighting candles and incense to cleanse the space around me before sitting down, crossing my legs and placing my palms face-up on my knee's.
I let my mind clear as best I can, being able to hear the mumble of conversation down the hallway, the noises coming from outside the tower on the street below.
The longer I sit, the more I'm able to tune them out, until I hear nothing.
Absolute silence..
My hair has fully dried, the flames of my candles are dancing and crackling in the darkness and I gather mostly everyone has turned themselves in for the night by the time I snap back into reality, hearing the tapping on the outside of my window.
My head shoots round, slowly turning my body to face the wide pane of glass and seeing the horned silhouette hovering in the corner. A mere shadow that I only notice because of the dim glow of the candlelight that sparkles in every corner of my room.. and because it's a silhouette that I know so well.
I stand, crossing over to the window and opening the latch, sliding it open as quietly as I can.
"Trick of treat" Matt jokes as he holds onto the frame, head tilted down to me.
I huff a laugh at him in shock. "Shut the fuck up" I playfully jab him in the stomach and pull him in through the gap.
How the hell did he manage to scale Stark tower, undetected? Only Matt Murdock could pull of such a stunt to greet me with 'trick or treat.'
"What the hell are you doing?" I warn him in a hushed tone. "You could've killed yourself!" I worry as I peer out the window at the sharp drop below.
As I look back at Matt he removes his helmet and raises a brow at me. "Me? Yeah.. Sure I would" he begins to walk around the room. "This seems nice. There's a lot going on in here.. Describe it to me" he asks.
