❛❛ sometimes it's hard to be nice ❜❜
At least, that's how it is for Miguel. His heart is frozen, completely iced over with nothing in sight to thaw it out. It makes him cold to those around him, snapping every chance he gets. Meeting an actress...

Eventually, it was time for us to leave the building. I held my packet in the same hand as my phone while sliding my chair back into its original spot. Everyone was moving way faster than our little group, since we continued talking while shuffling our way out the door.
"Do you guys wanna go to a restaurant nearby? I can drive us" Tristan suggests, looking around at all of us. I smile and immediately agree. The youngest of us take out our phones, asking parents if we were allowed and what not. Tristan told us that he wouldn't mind dropping us off at our houses later on.
I decide not to text my mom, figuring I could just walk out to her car and explain what was happening. But, she came walking in through the front door just as we neared it.
"Hii" She said to the other kids, before turning towards me.
"Sorry, I came in because we really need to get going" Mom explains to me, laughing softly under her breath. Her sudden appearance didn't embarrass me, not like it would some kids.
"Oh okay, we'll uhm.. would it be alright if I went out to eat with them? I'll be home before you know it, and Tristan has his license so it's completely legal" I smile, moving both my hands to show which one was Tristan. He nodded his head to my mom.
"Nice to meet you ma'am" The boy says as my mother scans over him.
"Driver's license?" She asks and Tristan nods.
"Let me see" Mom demands, and he pulls his wallet out his back pocket, opening up to reveal a the license.
"You ever got a ticket before?" She continues her interrogation, and Tristan tells her "no ma'am".
"Drive the speed limit, and everyone better have on seatbelts"
Everyone mutters polite words back, smiling at her. My face was a little bit red now as she walked out, leaving us to stand there for a moment. Once we started walking again Tristan began to talk.
"Your mom seems cool" He says, the others agreeing to it. Except one boy, of course. He walked along side me, close enough where I could hear his mumble.
"More like severely overprotective" Miguel says, making my face heat up even more.
"She can't help that she cares" I snap back, shutting my mouth quickly afterwards. I had got embarrassed and only one thing happens when I get embarrassed. My lisp finds its way back, not too heavy but enough you can recognize it's there. Luckily the others in front of us had started up a conversation of their own, so only Miguel heard me.
"Didn't realize you had such a lisp, Mar" He says, keeping his eyes on me. I turn my head, trying to avoid eye contact to calm myself down. Forming my words carefully before speaking, I still manage to add that lisp-y pronunciation to it.
"Shut up" I mumble and he seems to get a kick out of it, laughing lightly. Suddenly, my eyes were watering. I couldn't tell if I had forgot to blink for a period of time, or I was about to cry. Either way, my mood was pretty destroyed. I hung my head low, allowing my hair to shield me from seeing Miguel. The water ran out of my eyes, making me thank myself for not wearing mascara today.
I straighten my head up, pretending to fix my hair but in reality I was quickly wiping the tears from below my eyes with Brady's jacket. Miguel has found his way in front now, leaving Tristan to fall behind to my side.
"Are you excited to start filming?" He asks, making me look over at him with a phony smile. I nod, too worried my speech would still be stupid sounding. When I look at him his smile drops, and he tilts his head.
"Have you been crying?" He whispers, and I pause for a moment before shaking my head no. I run the sleeves across my eyes again, making sure I got it all off. Tristan must assume I don't want to talk about it, because he doesn't speak another word. I see him look towards Miguel with a somewhat pissed expression.
I focus on my breathing as we near the car, letting myself calm down. Tristan unlocks the doors, and I start to get into the back since Brady called shotgun.
"Oh here's your jacket back" I remember, sliding it off my arms before handing it to him.
It hit me that there were only three seats in the back, and four of us. So, to make things less weird,Maddy and I decided she would sit on my lap. She pulls the seatbelt over both of us, giggling in the process. Once everyone was buckled up, Tristan started the car and got us out the parking lot.
Mason was staring hard at something, and at first I assumed it was the road. But, when I followed his gaze I realized Brady had put his jacket back on now, and was messing with the sleeves. He had noticed the wet spots on both sleeves, gesturing it to Tristan who nodded. It had got Miguel's attention as well, since everyone knew I was wearing that jacket.
It stayed unspoken though, all of them knowing what it meant. So now the car ride was awkward, the only thing filling the silence being Brady's playlist. The song playing was Romantic Homicide by d4vd, a trending song as of right now. He turned up the volume, letting it vibrate the car with every beat. Brady soon began to sing while looking at Tristan, making him laugh.
He would ball his fists when hitting higher notes, leaning back in his seat roughly. We all got a good laugh out of it, a smile staying on everyone's face.
"Idiot your gonna blow my speakers!" Tristan yelled over the music, only to be ignored by Brady who plugged his ears.
Their giggling drowned out into the background as I focused on the beat. My fingers tapped to the beat, getting a feel for it. I couldn't help it eventually, just like Brady I had to sing along.
"I don't mean to be complacent, with the decisions you make, but whyy" I sang, not as loud as him but enough to please myself. My eyes look away from the window, seeing that Maddy was recording her and I with a wide smile. I smiled too, putting my head down a little shamefully.
When the beat continued on, she showed the camera who all was in the car with us. But as the lyrics came back, she pointed it back at us.
"In the back of my-" We both got cut off, mouths going wide open then laughing like idiots. Brady was killing this part, belting out every lyric and holding his water bottle like it was a microphone. Maddy had flipped the camera now, letting him have his moment.
"Enough enough" Tristan says out of breath, reaching to turn the radio off. Brady froze in his spot, giving him a playful glare.
"I could have been on The Voice.." He mumbles, making us all laugh.

Author: And there it is, the introduction to Maria's lisp. Also a quick mention, did any of you guys realize how Brady may have started singing to try and cheer Maria up? I love that idea :)
P. S., sure looks like someone isn't happy with how our girl is being treated.
