Chapter Twenty-Three

" 'Not that close,' huh?" Steve teased while wrapping his arm around Billy's waist, Billy glimpsed behind him at the group

He kissed his lips against Steve's for a split second prior to hearing a yelling from across the room

"What do you mean kill them?" Max yelled at Argyle while the rest had looked worried as well.

Argyle lifted his hands up, "No- I did not, did not! Say kill them." He protested, Steve left Billy and went to Dustin

He didn't mind. He just followed Steve, staying close to him, "Dustin, what's going on?"

"Oh hey, Steve. Yeah, Argyle is trying to kill Billy, Eddie, and Will." Dustin said casually, "Wait what?" Billy asked

Eddie rushed over, pulling Will with him, "Argyle is trying to kill us." Argyle turned his head, "I am not!"

Steve set his hands on his hips, "Listen, we're not killing anyone." He was ignored due to the group questioning Argyle.

Steve turned towards Billy, "Well, that worked, didn't it." Billy laughed before clearing his throat

"Billy don't -" Steve tried.

"What's he going to do?" Eddie asked.

"Hey!" Billy shouted loudly enough for the entire group to go quiet and look at him. He motioned his hand for Steve to speak

Steve rolled his eyes as he saw Robin smirking at him, "Argyle, are you trying to kill Billy, Eddie, and Will?"

"No! All I said is we need to get rid of who that guy is using."

"So Billy, Eddie, and Will?" Max asks him, "I think he means to get the mind flayer out of them." Steve said

"Thank you, man!" Argyle agreed, crossing his arms at Max, "How are we going to do it? I mean, it didn't work for Will." Nancy added.

"Seems like it only works when their heads are chopped off." Max looked at Argyle, He put his arm on her back

"Well, why don't you cut off your brother's head, and we'll get Will and Eddie?"

Max scoffed and looked at Billy, pointing to Argyle, "Billy make him stop." He smiled and went to the two

"Maybe Argyle is actually possessed and is trying to kill the people we need." Billy tilted his head at Argyle.

"What, no!"

Max chimed in, "That's something a possessed person would say, isn't it." Billy nodded, smiling proudly at Max

He turned to the group, "I guess we have to kill Argyle." He shrugged, "Wait! I'm sorry, man!"

Max and Billy looked at one another, then broke out in laughter when making eye contact

"I'm out." Argyle said before walking out of the kitchen heading to the front door, "Argyle!" Jonathan yelled, going after him

Nancy followed behind Jonathan. In the kitchen, Steve gave Billy a look, "Why did you do that?"

"Harrington, I think you should make him apologize." Robin looked at Billy, "No way, it was just a joke."

Robin looked into the living room, "They haven't left yet." Steve stared at Billy, then dragged him to Argyle

Jonathan, Nancy, and Argyle all stopped to see Billy and Steve in front of them, "I'm-" Billy cleared his throat, "I'm sorry."

"I don't forgive you." Argyle stated, "What?" Billy shouted, Nancy whispered, "Argyle, come on."

Jonathan stared up at him, waiting for a reply, Argyle could no longer hold in his laugh, Steve almost laughed himself.

Argyle wiped the tears from his eyes, "Haha, I was kidding, man." Billy gave him an annoyed look

"Come on...bring it in." Argyle lifted his arms up, hugging Billy, Nancy giggled covering his mouth

"Billy, you got to hug him back." Steve said, Billy huffed, then hugged Argyle back.

Argyle slightly lifted him off the ground, breaking the hug, Billy's eyes widened, almost tumbling when he dropped back down

He put his hands on his hips, "Do you work out?" Billy asked, "All I make is pizza, man." He paused

"It's not like you're that heavy anyway." Argyle smiled, "It does look like you've lost weight, Billy." Nancy added.

"Do you eat in the upside down?" Steve asked, "There's nothing to eat, just these damn bats flying around."

"Oh yeah, I remember Steve bit one." Billy gazed at him with a disgusted look, "Bro, that's sick." Argyle put a fist out

Steve bumped a fist against his, "You probably have rabies." Billy said poking his stomach

"I might -"

"Steve!" Max shouted, walking into the living room, "Yep?" He said, turning around, including Billy.

"Can one of you take me and Lucas home? It's getting late." Steve looked down out his watch to read eleven o'clock

"Shit, you're right."

"We were planning on leaving. Do you want us to take them?" Jonathan asked, sticking his hands in his pockets

"Don't worry, you all have Will, Mike, and Eleven to take. I'll get these two." Steve smiled.

"I brought my car Steve, I don't mind taking them home with Dustin and Robin." Nancy stated, He looked at Billy

Billy shrugged, "I guess that can work, thanks, Nance." Steve answered, "No problem."

The house slowly emptied out as everyone left in different cars, Billy's camaro was the last car in the driveway

Billy closed the curtains he was looking out of, "How are you planning on getting your car backing Harrington?"

Steve sat down on the couch, putting his hands on the back of his head and closed his eyes, leaning back

"As long as those guys in the government have it, I don't plan on getting it back."

Billy chuckled, sitting himself down beside Steve though the couch was fairly big enough.

Billy leaned his head back too, "What do you plan on doing now?" Steve opened his eyes and looked at Billy

His blue eyes seemed to be more clear to Steve in dark light, Billy sat himself up subtly moving nearer

Steve did the same, putting his arm around Billy's waist, "Seems like you have a plan."

Billy didn't answer. Instead, he softly placed his hands on Steve's neck, pulling him closer to kiss him.
