Chapter Twenty-Nine

Steve glanced down at the ground watching vines move slowly towards the house, "Watch where you step."

Robin too looked, "Yeah. Don't want to die this time." Vicki took steps back realizing she was close to a vine on the porch

Billy walked forward to the door without worrying what he was stepping on, he put his hand on the knob, twisting it to open.

He went inside, "See anything?" Robin asked, there was no response, the floor beneath Billy creaked as he stepped

"Billy?" Max furrowed her brows due to him, not answering, she looked up at Steve, he gave her a face of reinsurance then followed Billy

As Steve went into the house it seemed to have gotten dark, Robin was at the back of him with Vicki as well.

Eddie and Dustin looked at one another before also going into the house but at a faster pace, Steve laid his hand on Billy's shoulder

"Billy?" His head turned to Steve, at first he noticed at close they were, he changed his focus onto the others behind him

Billy backed away from Steve with a smile, "Sorry. I was just looking at the..." He pointed to the old grandfather clock, "...the clock."

His breath wasted away as he finished, Steve viewed the clock, "What about it?"

Billy wanted to reply but he had forgotten what he saw, "Everything alright in there?" Nancy asked outside of the house

As the group turned to the front the door suddenly slammed itself shut, Eddie ran to it and fought with the handle

He tried opening it but was unable to, Billy walked to the door gripping on the handle, he pushed his body against the door, yet it was no use.

Billy watched as his own knuckles became red from the hold on the knob, as he stared a black vine began wrapping itself around his wrist

He stumbled back attempting to pull himself away, the more he struggled the tighter the vine came on his arm

Steve gave Robin his bat making his way to Billy, it wasn't budging the more they strained, soon vines following the floor found Steve.

The vine clung on to Steve's ankles dragging him down, "Wow!" He shouted as he fell to the floor

"Steve!" Robin hurried to him

She tried to release him from the vines with the bat, however, she took a stepped back onto a resting vine on the ground

The reaction was swift, the vines holding Steve threw him to a wall, the ones grabbing Billy did the same.

Robin looked at the others, Dustin's hands were intertwined with vines and he was held down, Eddie was treated as Steve and Billy were

She watched as the vines grasped Vicki by her hands, she was held on the wall with vines circling around her waist

Robin stood, thinking about what she could do, before she thought of a plan she heard the door swing open.

Eleven stood in the frame with blood dripping from her nose, she wiped the blood away then rushed inside along with the others

The group all stood aligned looking at everyone being restrained from the vines lingering through the house

"I got it." Nancy walked towards Steve shooting down the vines from his limbs before they could reach his neck.

Steve fell to the ground scraping his hands, "Thanks for the soft landing."

"Enough with the chatting. Get everyone else!" Max said throwing her hand out
