Two-Bit convinced Marcia and Cherry - the Socs - to let you walk them home. You weren't too on-board with the idea, but you'd rather stick with the gang then venture off on your own. A few times, you noticed Marcia staring at Johnny, which made you angry. Luckily, Two-Bit noticed and began talking to her to distract her. At least, that's what you thought, anyway.

"Hey, Pony," Cherry started as you walked. "Tell me about your oldest brother. You never seem to talk 'bout him." Her accent bothered you, she sounded too stuck-up, too proper.

"What's there ta tell?" Ponyboy replied, crossing his arms. You could tell he wasn't too happy to be talking about Darry, but you weren't sure why? They seemed to get along.. "He roofs houses."

Cherry shook her head, smiling. "No, really. What's he like? I feel like I already know Sodapop, tell me about Darry. Is he wild n' reckless like Soda . . . or dreamy like you?" Ponyboy balled his fists.

"He ain't like Soda an' he sure ain't like me. He can't stand me. I bet he'd like ta put me inna boy's home, 'cept Soda won't let 'em!"

Two-Bit looked at him weird. "What're you talkin' 'bout, Pony?"

"Yeah," agreed Johnny. "Y'all get along just fine." You nodded, you'd never seen them fight or anything.

Pony growled at Johnny. "No, we don't. N' you shut yer mouth 'cause you ain't wanted at home neither!" Without thinking, you grabbed Ponyboy's shirt, the anger in your mind clouding your vision, and pinned him to the fencing behind him.

"The hell didja say, Asstoddler?" you hissed, glaring at him. "You shut up, ya hear?" You pulled away from him when he nodded and walked over to Johnny, wrapping him in your arms. "Ignore him, Johnnycake, he don't know what he's saying'."

"I'm sorry," Pony sighed. "I just got a little mad." Two-Bit gave him a smile and said it was okay, but you took Johnny's hand and dragged him away from Pony. How dare he.

That's when you started to hear a rumble of a car. Cherry - the redhead - sucked in a breath. "Marcia," she said, her eyes wide. She looked scared. You squeezed Johnny's hand. "We've got a problem."

The Socs car drove up and out came two boys, stumbling as they approached. One was tall with dark hair. He had large rings on his hand. The other was shorter, handsome, with curly brown hair. He held a bottle of what looked like whiskey. Johnny tensed. "Who're these clowns?" Two-Bit asked, backing away, his hand on his old switchblade.

"Cherry, what's goin' on?" the second Soc hissed. "What're you doin'?"

"Yeah, just 'cause we got a lil' drunk-" the first one was cut off by Cherry.

"You call reeling and passing out on the streets "a little," Bob? I've told you before, I'm never going out with ya when you're drinking!" The first one - Bob - rolled his eyes.

"That's no reason to be hangin' out with these bums!"

"Who're you callin' bums, pal?" Two-Bit growled, stepping in front of Johnny and you protectively.

"You!" the second Soc replied, pointing a finger at him. "We got two more of us in the back seat." He pointed his thumb at the Mustang.

"Pity the back seat," you grumbled, glaring at him. He smirked at you and pushed past Two-Bit.

"You lookin' for a fight, broad?"

"Maybe I am," you huffed, pulling Johnny behind you. You pulled out your blade from your shoe. "Shoot, maybe I am."

"We'll go with you!" Cherry yelled suddenly. The Soc stopped where he was and Two-Bit pushed him away from you. "Why?" he grumbled. "We ain't scared of these bastards. Lil' Y/N could take 'em all on if she wanted ta!"

"I hate fights! I can't stand 'em!" Cherry said. She turned to Pony and you stopped listening. Two-Bit was checking on Johnny and you, making sure you were okay. You were both fine, just a bit shaken up. You wished you'd stayed that way.
