Tess's eyes do not leave Cat's frame as she walks into the station that Friday morning. She can feel her watching.

"So, how are you doing today? Today's a new day," Tess smiles hopefully.
Cat leans forward on her desk, staring off into space. "Uh, hello?"

"I think I sent him into a cabin in the woods with her."

"What?"

"Yeah, he came to see me this morning, I was trying to be all tough and cold turkey and I think I made him run in the other direction," Cat rolls her eyes.

"Made him?"

Cat sighs, tilting her head onto her shoulder. "I don't know, I think he was wavering." Tess doesn't seem convinced. "Maybe I should call him and tell him not to go."

"No!" Tess says firmly. Cat's eyes widen at Tess's scary arm waving. "No phone. We're gonna focus on work." Cat sits down and Tess hands her a stack of files. "Alright, pick a case. A missing octogenerian, prescription drug ring at New York General, stolen jewellery from Tiffany's - "

"Wait," Cat's ears had perksd up at hearing the hospital. "New York General?"

"Uh, yeah, Narcotics has warranted a bunch of people, mostly nurses."

Cat opens the file and pages through. "You're kidding." Of course Alex is one of the nurses, which she was afraid of.

"Our raids starts at noon, they don't want anyone tipped off," Tess tells her and Cat clears her throat.

"Uhm okay! Let's raid her!" She drops Alex's profile in front of Tess. "Her apartment is right near my favorite ice cream shop," Cat grins brightly.

"Done," Tess laughs.

Cat bites the corner of her lip and then she says, "Uhm, I will meet you there. I just have an errand to run. Okay?" Tess just scoffs, shaking her head at Cat's determined expression.

"You're gonna call him."

Cat hurries down the hallway and dials Vincent's number, going into one of the interrogation rooms. He doesn't answer so she call the next best thing.
"JT, I need to talk to Vincent," she says when he answers. "We're about to raid his girlfriend's apartment."

"We are? Who's we?"

"Narcotics. Alex has been stealing meds from the hospital to use at her clinic." She was pretty shocked when Vincent told her about it. Made her hate the woman even more and yet, made her not hate her at all. "They have a warrant."

"They left for the cabin already."

"What?" Cat groans. "If his prints show up in the system again - "

"You know if you really wanted to protect him you should've told him not to go."

"I am not his handler," she repeats for what feels like the hundredth time. "And you could have done the same thing."

"I tried... Meanwhile, I am protecting him. You know your little pal Evan is twelve hours away from presenting his cross species DNA findings to the National Genetics Association."

"Okay, we are going to do this raid in 49 minutes." Cat looks out the window to make sure she was still good. "Vincent's not picking up his burner. Do you have Alex's number?"

"No. And there's no cellphone reception at the cabin." JT sighs. "Where does she live? I'll go."

Cat smiles. "Yeah, and leave your fingerprints all over the place? No. I've already been there and I know where all of the mementos and letters are."
