Chapter Sixteen
——Y/n's POV—
*Now in the school, you walked into the gym and saw Steve. You walked over to Steve and sat down next to him*
"Hey Steve, I wasn't expecting to see you here" I said to him.
"Yeah well, I'm just here for Robin, and I could say the same about you. Don't you have Hellfire tonight?" Steve asked me.
"Yeah there's Hellfire tonight, but I don't want to be around someone right now, and they just happen to be in Hellfire" I told Steve.
"It's Eddie... isn't it?" Steve asked me.
"Eddie, um... well you see... he chose wrong" I told Steve.
"What do you mean he chose wrong?" Steve asked me.
"Someone asked him me or Chrissy... and he chose Chrissy..." I explained to Steve.
"That's fucked up, you deserve better Y/n" Steve told me.
*Tammy Thompson walked out and sang the national anthem. Steve's hand brushed again yours but you didn't notice. Everyone sat back down and the game began*
"I wonder if Lucas is actually gonna play this game" I said to Steve.
"He might, but Y/n do you know where Eddie is?" Steve asked me.
"Probably at Hellfire, why do you ask?" I asked Steve.
"Oh no reason, and I'll be back in a sec" Steve told me as he got up and walked out of the gym.
"SHIT, he's gonna go find Eddie. I should probably follow him" I thought to myself as I followed Steve but made sure he couldn't see me.
——Steve's POV—
"How the fuck could Eddie do that to Y/n" I thought to myself as I walked down the halls to Hellfire.
*Steve walked down the hall to Hellfire with you following behind him, but Steve never noticed. Steve made it to the door of Hellfire and busted into the room*
"EDDIE, what the fuck!" I yelled at Eddie as I walked closer to him.
"Hey Steve, man back away from Eddie!" Dustin yelled at me.
"Why should I! We know what he said to Y/n!" I yelled back to Dustin as I got closer to Eddie.
"Steve! Hey! Listen man, I didn't say shit to Y/n!" Eddie yelled at me as he stepped back away from me.
"You chose fucking Chrissy GODDAMN Cunningham over your girlfriend!" I yelled at Eddie.
"Why do you care anyways, huh? Care to explain that to us?" Eddie asked me, it was clear in his tone that he was trying anger me.
"Because I've been in love with Y/n since I first met her and I can't stand to see her get hurt by the likes of you!" I yelled in Eddie's face.
The room went silent as those words left my lips. Mike looked behind me in shock.
"Hey! Wheeler! What are you looking at?" I asked Mike.
"You love me?" Y/n asked me softly as I could hear her voice slowly breaking.
"Y/n, I-" I was saying before Y/n cut me off.
"Steve... to much shit has happened around my love life today. I can't with the lies... not anymore..." Y/n said softly to me with a tear forming in her eye as she ran out of the room.
*Steve tried to run out after you but Dustin and Mike stopped him*
"Let her go, she'll talk to you when she's ready" Dustin said to me calmly.
"I do love Y/n, I don't want her to think I lied..." I told Dustin and Mike.
——Y/n's POV—
I ran out of Hellfire after Steve said he loved me. I ran back to the gym and sat down next to Max for the rest of the game and explained to her what happened.
"Should we go talk to Steve?" Max asked me.
"God no! I don't want to talk with anyone that has to do with my love life right now" I told Max.
"I get that, buuuuuut maybe talking to Steve instead of just assuming he's lying would be the healthier option. Just an idea though" Max told me.
"Hey! I never said that I wanted to chose the healthiest option" I said to Max jokingly.
"Y/n, you know that Steve probably isn't lying" Max told me.
"What do you mean?" I asked Max.
"I mean, this is the second time that he'd said he loves you-" Max said before I cut her off.
"Wait a damn minute! Second time?! When was the first?!" I asked Max.
"Didn't anyone tell you?" Max asked me.
"Of course not! If someone had told me I wouldn't be like this right now!" I told Max.
"That night Dell died, me and Nancy were also at the hospital. We didn't know what was going on, and all we saw was Steve crying as he left your room. I asked him why he was crying and he told us about Dell and then he said that he's been in love with you since he first met you, and he couldn't stand to see you in pain..." Max explained to me.
"What?!" I yelled out to Max in shock.
