MAY 21ST, 2021The week leading up to my date with Harry was rather busy.
On Monday, Ruby and I made our way to a local clinic to get screened. Being cautious is never a bad thing. Ruby had decided to get one too so I wasn't alone there and we both were clean.
On Tuesday, I received a call from my grad school advisor, Dr. Parker, asking if I would be interested in doing some freelance tutoring for freshmen taking remedial economics over the summer. The pay wasn't bad and it was only a few sessions a week. Ruby tried to get me to decline but I would be crazy to turn down the extra cash. So, I agreed to three students with two sessions a week.
On Wednesday, I started tutoring with a boy named Graham. He grew up right outside of New York City. He's actually a pretty sweet kid. During our first session, I learned that he was an undecided major who just got super behind during his spring semester, thus flunking some of his courses. His sister got really sick in February and he had to take up an extra job to help his family with medical expenses. He only wanted a tutor so he could get through his remedial course with flying colors so his GPA didn't fall too much.
On Thursday, Ruby forced me into a girls day. Her words were, 'you need a good pampering and it's my treat.' I couldn't turn down a free mani/pedi. I would get us next time. We did a morning appointment at a local salon to get our hair done. Ruby opted for just a blowout. On the other hand, I finally got the highlights I had been putting off since early spring. After a quick lunch, we got our nails done at a salon a few blocks from our apartment. Ruby called me 'boring' for getting the same nude color I get everytime. It goes with everything though!
One thing that stayed consistent throughout the week were my chats with Harry. He had to travel to LA for a new movie he was shooting. Every night before I went to bed, he would just be getting off set due to the time difference. We would talk about our days then we just talked about everything.
This week I learned: his favorite color is red, mine is blue. He was born in February like me. He hates pineapple on pizza, though I love it. He enjoys reading in his spare time, which I do too but we differ in favorite genres. He can speak a bit of Italian, I only know basic Spanish. All week, we exchanged small, quirky facts about ourselves to get to one another more.
Each night, he sends me a sweet goodnight message with a 'sweet dreams' to follow, even though it's not nearly time for him to fall asleep.
It's finally Friday, though.
Tonight is my date with Harry.
Although I have spoken to him everyday leading up to today, I am still extremely nervous. I woke up this morning full of jitters, both nervous and excited. So many thoughts are running through my mind.
