AUGUST 9TH, 2021

I wake up, surprisingly in a good mood. I have a busy Monday ahead of me, so I decide to get up and mentally prepare myself for what all I have to do today. Soon, I have to head up to Columbia to meet with my advisor. Although I scheduled my fall semester earlier this year, I feel it would be very prudent to discuss my situation and determine what would be best. As well, I have to determine what classes I will begin teaching in a few weeks!

I hop out of bed and move to my closet to find an outfit. I need to dress a bit nice considering I am meeting with not only my academic advisor, but my boss. I also have to wear something that will be easy access to my stomach for the ultrasound this afternoon. I find a cropped brown sweater vest in the back of my closet and pull it from the hanger. I grab my go-to white tee, a pair of white jeans to go with the vest and lay out my outfit on the bed.

Sitting down at my vanity, I put on a small bit of makeup and fixed my hair. While I am running the brush through my hair, the small ultrasound picture catches my eye and I smile. I will get another one of those prints today and I can't wait. I can compare the two prints and see how much my little one has grown in just a few weeks.

I get my outfit on and settled, peeping back into my closet for the right shoes. Since it's summer and I haven't gotten to the stage of pregnancy where my feet swell, I throw on a pair of white strappy Doc sandals.

I head out of my room and when I walk into the kitchen, Ruby is standing by the stove with the kettle in her hand.

"Hey, babe! I got your water ready for your tea. It's a big day, are you excited?" She asks, handing the kettle to me to fix my cup. I nod my head excitedly in reply.

"So, I got it straightened out with work for me to be able to be at the doctor's office at two, so I'll just meet you there," she says as she fixes her own cup of coffee.

My heart drops. I had forgotten to tell her. I had forgotten the one important thing I was supposed to tell her all week; Harry would be at the ultrasound and she didn't need to go. She can see the look on my face as her own expression goes puzzled.
