"have you seen him?"
after the two had left, officer garcia made a mental list of all the things he needed to do for samuel's case. first, he'd have to go to the hospital and check in to see if he might have stopped there, hopefully not hurt. then, mr. garcia would have to stop at the jail and check there, making sure sam didn't commit any crimes even though the name didn't sound familiar to the man. lastly, he would have contacted the owners of bell witch and check in to see if sam had talked to them at all last night. he couldn't do it alone though.
"hey, val?" he called out into the hallway, the brunette popping her head out of the break room, wondering what her father could want her for.
"i need a buddy, wanna join?" a smile crept across valerie's face as her father asked her this question.
"absolutely."
"get ready." officer garcia smiled as the girl made her way down the hall and into his office, grabbing her bag as she entered the room. she was always ready to run errands with her dad, always.
the two made their way out to the cop car before getting in. first stop, was the hospital. valerie hadn't returned to that hospital since what had happened all those years ago. she refused to step inside, but she couldn't be afraid of the place forever. face your fears, right?
as the two pulled into a spot in front of the
hospital, val's nerves began to pick up. maybe she wasn't ready yet. she couldn't do this, maybe she could just stay in that car? no, she had to face her fears eventually. whether that was going back inside the bell witch forest or going into the hospital her best friend was pronounced dead.
take a deep breath and face your fears. that's all she had to do. valerie opened the car door and followed her father up to the entrance of the hospital, her hands shaking.
"are you ready?" her dad whispered his hand on the door. valerie nodded before stepping inside the hospital, officer garcia following closely behind the girl.
the brunette stepped up to the counter and rang the bell. a short, young woman came out of a room valerie assumed was their break room. her name tag read mallory. the two stared at each other before the clerk spoke up.
"need anything, hun?" valerie nodded, looking over at her dad for assistance. the man handed the girl two pieces of paper, a picture of sam that colby and kat had sent to officer garcia the other paper was the missing person file for sam. val carefully slid the picture across the counter.
"have you seen samuel golbach, if so it should have been around one or two in the morning." valerie stared at the clerk as she glanced at the paper before going back into the break room and grabbing another clerk. this one didn't have a name tag, he was older and seemed to be concerned.
"maybe around one or two, when your shift began?" valerie heard mallory mumble as the man looked at the picture.
"no ma'am i have not seen this boy." the second clerk said, looking up at val with a sympathetic smile. "we can check our system just to be sure," he added, typing onto the computer, presumably sam's name.
"nope, no samuel." the clerk said, his mouth pressing into a line as he looked up from the computer.
"ok, thank you for your help."
