day 3.

people were already in the forest when the trio arrived. not just a few but groups upon groups of people out in the forest. most had the same XPLR hoodies and shirts that colby and katrina had.

"there they are," valerie had heard a girl whisper. they were pointing at the three of them, some looking towards valerie herself. probably thinking about how out of place the girl was with the other two. maybe she should have actually gotten ready this morning.

valerie looked down as the three of them walked into a section of the forest that had been unoccupied. officer garcia was waiting patiently for them outside his cop car.

"valerie," he greeted his daughter with a small wave. "and you two,"

something was off, not in a horrible 'valerie's is trouble' off but more so a 'what the hell did you do, valerie?' off. what did valerie do?

"hey?" valerie said coming out more of a question than a greeting.

"i'm assuming you and sam have some sort of social media presence, your fans are here searching for sam," garcia claimed, looking only at colby.

"valerie, i know you know that social media is a way to get the news out, but there are over a thousand people out in that forest. please take control over this situation, responsibility." she wasn't in trouble, she just.. just.. disappointed her father. not the worst thing she's done but she hated the look across her father's face when he was disappointed.

what would she even do anyway? just tell all those people to leave? half of them probably didn't even live near tennessee. 'hey, i know some of you have probably spent way more money than you should have but sam's not here, time to leave folks,' it didn't seem right. so, valerie let them search. she'd talk to her dad about it later.

the three of them searched a small, deserted area of the forest, people gathering almost as soon as they were there. how famous were these people?

"colby!" one of them yelled, tugging her red-faced friend behind her. the boy next to her didn't seem to know the two.

"hey," he replied easily, smiling at the two.

"my friend here really loves your guys' channel, how about a picture?" she asked excitedly, shoving the friend in front of her.

"yeah, sure," colby said, shifting slightly valerie noticed. how selfish. how could you go "support" your favorite celebrities in a dark time of their life and just expect them to do whatever you say? god.

the three of them took a picture, valerie taking the photos for them. the girl who dragged her friend over standing beside val.

"and who are you?" the girl whispered, turning towards the brunette.

"umm, i'm one of the many people helping colby and kat find sam," she replied hesitantly.

"how do you know them?"

"they came to me to find sam,"

"really?" sarcasm lacing her voice. "that's all?"

"pretty much,"
