lost...

he had stayed behind after valerie said she would go back in. colby would do everything in his power to stop the girl from getting lost in that forest like his best friend did. he couldn't lose another person, especially someone he had a connection with.

colby didn't know how to feel about valerie. she was an amazing person but he wanted more of her. a pull towards her, like a magnet. she was a magnet.

he wanted to know everything about her. wanted to see who she was and what she stood for. colby wanted to truly know valerie, in a way no one else knew her.

the brunette sat there in his car waiting for valerie. kat had gone with officer garcia back to the police station to test the fabric. colby already knew it was sam's.

it had been fifteen minutes since valerie went into the forest. the boy knew not to freak out and give her space but what if something happened to her? what if she was lost just like sam?

just give it a couple more minutes, then he would go in. valerie would be okay, she would be fine. she would come back out soon and colby would take her home, or hang out with her.

she would return, just like sam would. they would both be okay and this would all end soon. valerie just needed to come out of that forest.

everyone else had left, but she stayed. something deep inside the girl had told her to, so she listened. whatever it was wasn't safe because now, deep inside the forest, valerie didn't know her way out.

everything looked the same. the trees, the ground, was the witch playing tricks on her? would she end up like asher? dead. would she find sam dead? would she even be able to make it out of the forest?

maybe if there was only something or someone to point out where she was. val knew the forest well, almost as good as her own home but now was out of the picture. just trees, and trees, and slow darkness creeping its way around the brunette.

"hello?" valerie called out into the forest, almost ready to surrender and give up. everyone would find her in the morning, or maybe sam would find her. if he was still alive that is.

"valerie," the wind called out to the girl.

"fuck this shit." the girl responded with a laugh. it was like the classic scene in a horror movie. the main girl lost the other, only to be killed and never return. just how ash was.

keeping her head down, valerie tried her best to navigate her way through the forest only to lose her place even more.

"valerie?" someone else called. their voice was familiar this time. someone she knew. a boy, asher?

"shit," she whispered slightly, walking towards the voice. should the girl even be feeding into the forest? she knew her best friend had been dead for years but this all seemed too real.

"val?" his voice called out again, closer now. she picked up her pace, towards the voice. he had to be around here somewhere.

she caught a glimpse of him almost immediately, wearing his ripped sweater valerie had always made fun of. the very same sweater asher went missing in.
