Chapter Three

When I got home last night, I talked to Bailey for a little while before she headed out with Elijah. She has been a cheerleader since high school, and Eli has also been playing football since then.

I told her how annoyingly cute it is that she has been cheering him on this long. She blushed profusely and I once again was jealous of their relationship.

How could it be so perfect?

Once she told me he was a WR for the team, I asked her about the guy I met on the field. I told her what he looked like, and how he acted. She knew immediately who I was talking about.

Axel Maverick. Quarterback, and an absolute asshole.

Bailey told me all about him, and I wasn't fond of him, but I don't judge. She told me he is Elijahs closest friend, and that statement took me back a little bit.

Like seriously? Sweet little Eli best friends with him?

If they dated, it would be like one of those sunshine with grump tropes. They are the complete opposites, maybe that's why they're close.

Axel is your typical fuckboy and jack ass. Sleeping with who he wants, when he wants to, and being a dick to any and everybody.

I also realized that since I'm friends with Axels friends, he's just going to have to befriend me. I have a feeling he isn't going to be happy about it, but I could care less.

"Hey," I said to an older lady behind the counter at the bookstore, "I'm here about the job application."

I woke up early trying to find places that are hiring near me, and so far, everyone has turned me down. I mean seriously, six places shooed me out of the door before I could complete one sentence.

They can probably tell I'm a college student, and they don't want to waste an opening on someone who has other priorities. I don't blame them; I know whatever job will hire me won't like my strict schedule.

"Oh," the lady nods ecstatically before pulling out a piece of paper from behind the counter, "just fill this out, and I'll call you with an update in a couple days."

"Before I fill this out, I want you to know I have Friday, Saturday, and Sunday available at any time. I can also work Wednesday and Thursday after twelve in the afternoon."

I clarify my schedule with her while taking the paper and pen out of her hands. I'd rather not waste my time with this if she can't work around my classes.

"That's fine," she smiles briefly at me while making her way to the counter, "We will talk schedules if you get hired in."

I don't reply and just fill out my information. Sliding the items back across the counter, I give her a wave goodbye and head out to the car to head home.
