The cars moving past the car so fast was such an exhilarating sight to watch. All the different colors meshing into one fucked with your vision and cause a slight headache, but you still enjoyed watching.

You had nothing better to do than watch the cars and listen to your playlist as it played numerous Chase Atlantic songs.

The frown on your face was evidence of your boredom and distaste for this long ass car ride. For some reason your mother and aunt thought it would be nice for you to accompany them to pick up your older cousin Rue from rehab.

Well, to say the least, it was not nice. But it wasn't bad. It was just awkward. You and Rue had grown distance from each other after she secretly began taking drugs. The only time you two talked to each other before this was when you saw each other at school, on birthdays, and holidays where you two briefly talked shit about other relatives.

You were way closer with Gia, Rue's little sister, than Rue herself. And Gia was in like middle school.

"You two will be perfect friends again now that Rue is healed. This will be a perfect school year, right girls?" Your mother turned her head to the side to gaze into the rear view mirror at you and Rue. "Absolutely perfect."

You glanced at Rue out the corner of your eye, she too was looking at you. You both gave each other a slight smile before turning back towards the window.

"Yeah, absolutely perfect mom."

"Where are you going young lady?"

You let out yet another sigh as you turned around to meet your mother's demanding eyes. She always does this. You tell her your plans a week ahead of time and she keeps forgetting. Then the night or day of your pre-planned event she demands to know what you are doing.

"(Name)! Where are you going?"

You fight the urge to roll your eyes. "Mom, I'm attending a back to school event with my friends. Cass bought us notebooks and pencils and lots of other school supplies to decorate."

Your mom put the last plate in the cabinet before leaning her body against the kitchen counter. She folded her arms and tilted her head. She seemed disappointed.

"Did I not tell you to head to bed early tonight?"

"You did mother." You zipped up your jacket completely to cover the cropped top you had wore.

"Then why are you heading to an event? You need to be fully rested for tomorrow so you may spend time with Rue." She stood up from the counter and began to walk over to you, her brown eyes squinting behind her rectangle framed glasses.

You took a deep breath and stuffed your hand in your pocket. "I'll be spending time with Rue at back to school event mom. Rue promised me she'll go."

You could see your mother's eyes soften.

"Fine, you two have fun!"

You practically skipped out the door and into your parked car in the driveway. Quickly you pulled out keys and got to driving towards your 'event'.

That, 'event', was obviously a lie.

About a week or so ago you got invited to a party by your friend Mckay. Well, you wouldn't really call Mckay your friend. You only knew of him because he knew your friends. His so called best friend was your best friend's ex-boyfriend.

But, you two seemed close enough to the point where he personally invited you to his party. So you accepted the offer.

Once you arrived you pulled up across the street and hopped out, unzipping your jacket and throwing it into the back seat. You pulled down your bright purple crop top and fixed your bracelets that adorned your wrists.
