You let out a breath of air as you opened you car door and exited. All the noise coming from everywhere gave you a small reminder of your childhood. It was the carnival.

They held the carnival, annually, the week after school starts is when it takes place. Literally everyone was there, everybody who lived in the neighborhood attended. There were even people who loved no where near attending.

But it was fun. It brought a smile to your face. All the children laughing and running around with their stressed parents right behind them was a sight to see.

As you walked deeper into the carnival you began to look for either Maddy and Cassie, and Rue and Gia. You hadn't seen Gia since you guys had brought Rue home from rehab and you were genuinely glad to see her.

As you walked around looking for something to do you were abruptly grabbed by someone. Out of instinct you turned around and got ready to fight, but stopped when you had realized it was Rue. A panicking Rue.

"Rue, what the fuck? Are you good?" You closed the distance between you two and rubbed down her hair to calm her down, it seems as if she was having a small panic attack with the way she breathing. "Rue, speak to me girl."

"We can't find Gia."

You peered past Rue's head to see that Jules girl again. Part of you wanted to say something snarky to her until you began to comprehend what she said.

"Gia's missing- Where's the last place you seen her?" You too wanted to panic and get mad but you realized if you did so Rue would panic even more then she already was. You took some deep breaths to stable yourself before letting go of Rue. "Where is the last place you seen her?"

Rue hunched over quite a bit and let out once last shaky breath, "When we first arrived." Her response was meek and quiet but you heard everything.

You nodded your head, "Where did you guys arrive?"

"What does that have to do with-" Jules had begun to speak but you shut her up with a pointed index finger and a simple look. You did not have time for this girl to make Rue panic even more than she already was.

"Over there, by Willman. The short black haired man's booth." She stood up straight a pointed towards the booth that was far away.

You stood up and clapped your hands, "Okay, she could be in this area. We are just going to have to search!"

With that, you three began your search for Gia. As you three marched along the grounds of the carnival you couldn't help but watch Jules. Her and Rue seemed close, with was nice that Rue was making friends. But you couldn't shake the feeling something was off with Jules. She had this mysterious side to her that you couldn't just place your finger on. She didn't seem to show her real self.

Jules could feel you staring at her and turned around to meet your questioning gaze. You rolled your eyes at her and walked up faster to get in between the two. "We might need to split up to find her."

"Split up? That sounds like a bad idea." Jules spoke meekly.

You sighed and just wanted to turn around and push the girl. You didn't even know why she was here in the first place, she's still technically a stranger to you two so why was she helping look for Gia the way she was. To you she wasn't helpful at all. All she did was say stupid shit that infuriated you.

Rue crossed her arms, "She's right. It's getting close to ten."

Jules seemed to hush after that and listen to Rue. You rolled your eyes again and began to continue to walk straight while Rue and Jules went to the left and right respectively.

You looked around for Gia, stopping and asking your classmates have they seen her. After a while of looking you began to finally let the anger rush out of your system and let the panic set in. You could not find her and it was getting to you. All anxious worries plagued your thoughts as you searched every nook and cranny for her.

"(Name)!"

You immediately turned around, damn near giving yourself whiplash as you saw Rue. She was gesturing towards you to come to her before pointing off in the distance. Without hesitation you took off towards your cousin, even pushing people and children out of your way.

As you stopped in front of Rue you turned saw Gia standing against a metal pole. She stood there pale face and looking at the ground. You slowly walked towards her, checking to see if she was okay. You cupped her face so she could make eye contact with you.

Gia cracked a small smile out the corner of her mouth. "Sorry." Accepting your apology you hugged the girl right and began to rock her in your arms. As you squeezed her you rubbed her back to give her a reassuring feeling before letting go.

You smiled back at the girl and let her walk off with Rue and Jules.

Once the three finally walked off you slid down the pole Gia was just sitting on and placed yourself on the ground. You had to calm yourself down before you went for more activities. That entire situation was stressful and had you thinking all types of things that could have gone wrong.

You stood up after a short while and decided maybe it was time to go. You pushed your hair back and walked back to your car, expecting that tonight would go a bit better now that that was over.

You were wrong.

"(Name)."

You turned around and saw Maddy, looking all beautiful in the purple suit she has sent you pictures of earlier. As you gazed at her in all her glory you saw the tears running down her face stained with her jet black mascara. She held herself tightly as she walked towards you.

You immediately took off your jacket and put it around the girl, pulling the hood over her head and holding her. "(Name), please just take me home."

You bent over and kissed her cheek, "Of course love, of course."
