October 31, 1977, Halloween was their favorite holiday. When they were younger they would go door to door trick or treating together, but last year when they got to freshmen year they had decided to stay home and watch movies. This year was no different...except it was. They haven't talked since the night when Robin kissed Finn. When at school, Finn avoided Robin as if he was the plague. In classes they sheared he wouldn't even glance over to him. After classes, instead of hanging out with Robin under the tree they usually sat under, he stayed in the bathroom and smoked a cig.
Finn was a different story. After he and Robin shared a kiss he realized something that he had pressed down deep inside of him. He liked the kiss. He craved more from Robin. Every night since that night he had dreams of being held by Robin as their bodies intertwined. But he wasn't ready to accept that fact he wanted to be with another boy, to be with Robin. The day right after he had rode his bike to Donna's house. She and him were friends since the eighth grade, but never got into a relationship with the other. He knew what he did was wrong, but he asked Donna to go out with him on Sunday which she complied. They went to see a film at the theater. They sat side by side while holding hands, but he pictured Donna's soft hand as Robin's. After the film, they had kissed when he took her home. He didn't like the kiss with her as much as the one from the previous night. Now, he was with Donna at school, instead of Robin.

Finn had seen the bullies from previous years looking in his direction. They soon started to move towards him. Finn had been beat by them many, many times but he never stopped trying to prevent it. He ran into the closet empty bathroom he could find. The trio of boys followed, also passing Robin on the way. Despite them by talking, Robin still cared for Finn and wanted to protect them. That's why he followed them.
In the bathroom, Finn had hid in one of the stalls, he climbed up onto the toilet to hide his feet. It was no use though. The door opened slowly and the group of boys walked in.
"We know you're in here Finney" One of them spoke.
He exhaled quietly before another on spoke. "Why are you in our bathroom? The door says boys not fags!" The last word stung when he said it. He was right. Finn was a fag. He opened the door and stepped out of the stall, already defeated.
One of the boys stepped closer to him and raised his hand to strike right before the bathroom door opened. Everyone was frozen in place as Robin stepped in. The boys had knew about Robins past fights, which he always won.
"Hey finn" he said as he pressed through the boys. He leaned himself on the sink and pulled a cigarette he had been saving from his back pocket. He raised it up to his lips and lit it. "What's happening?"
Finn didn't know how to respond. "You know. Just keeping on, keeping in I guess." He said as he turned his head to face Robin who was exhaling a cloud of smoke and let out a muffled sound. The three boys had turned around to leave before being stopped by the boy.
"Wait!" Robin exclaimed. They all turned to face him. "Fuck with Finn again" he lifted his head up slightly to make eye contact with the boy in the middle "I fuck with you.". They all stood there like statues. "You can leave now" he extended the hand holding his cig out to point to the door. They quickly shuffled out of the room, leaving the two boys Alone.
"T-thanks" Finn said shakily. He went to leave as well before Robin pulled on his arm. "Wait" he said dropping his tough guy tone, becoming sincere In his words.
"I'm really sorry about Friday. I-I didn't mean it like in a g-gay why, ya know" Even Robin couldn't say what he was. Finn felt worse because of that. The boy that wasn't afraid of anything, was afraid of a single word. "It was like a joke" he said "thought is would be funny, but um..." he lied.
Finn's heart broke. Hearing Robin basically say he had no feelings for him or desire to be with him hurt. He previously thought that he could be with him, he just needed time. But now he knew that there wasn't enough time in the world because Robin didn't want him.
"It's..." he paused, looking deeply into robins brown eyes "it's fine".
"G-good" they stood in silence for a moment. "Um do you wanna go to my house for Halloween? W-we could watch a movie or something...if you want." Robin suggested.
"I-I'd like that" Finn smiled. His smile was enough to make the corners of Robins mouth to creep up.

The two boys walked to Robin's house side by side. The air was cold and clouds turned gray. The more they walked the darker they got.
"Did you feel that?" Finn asks as a small droplet lands in the tip of his nose.
"Nope" The boy responds before another one drops. Just then the sky began the leak and more and more drops began to rain from the sky.
"Shit!" Finn exclaimed as the start to run towards the house. Their clothes becoming damp as the rain starts to pick up.
They run up the steps and gather on the porch. Finney shivers while Robin struggles to get the door open. He gets it and the two boys run into the warmth of the house.
Their clothes were dripping as the walked into robins room. The blond took his sweater and shirt off just as Robin was pulling pajamas out for the two. Finn's was blue and Robin's where black.
They stood in opposite directions as the changed, avoiding eye contact. They had changed in front of each other many times before, but know it became awkward. Once done Finn took the wet clothes to dry off as Robin waited on the couch in the living room. He came out to Robin spread out with a white blanket across his body.
"I'm gonna tell my dad I'm staying here" he told the dark haired boy.
When he returned, he laid down in the other side if Robin, their bodies meeting in the middle. "So you wanna watch something?" Robin asked. He had already taken off his bandana, allowing the lose strands of hair to fall in his face.
"Sure" finney spoke softly.
Robin had turned on some low budget horror film from at least ten years prior. It wasn't boring not scary, but was just right for them. After the first film another worse one came on which put them to sleep. Robin had drifted off to sleep much earlier then expected. Finn fought to keep his eyes open to the point he would close them and wake up five minutes later.
"Robin?" He whispers. "Robin are you awake?" He casks again without a response from the other boy.
He slowly stands from his side and walks over the the other boy. He bent over slightly and shook the sleeping boy. He arose from his slumber confused.
"Let's go to you're room" Finney said as he helped Robin up from the couch and they walked to his room half asleep.
They flopped down onto the bed side by side. Robin fell back asleep instantly, leaving Finn to lay in bed alone. He looked over at Robin who was asleep. He admired him, loving him in this peaceful state. He looked as his eye lashes looked even longer closed and his hair spread out everywhere. He wanted to kiss him more then ever, but told himself no repeatedly in his head. He settled on placing a hand near his. He watched as Robins sleeping hand took it in his and smiled.
Finn smiled, not taking his hand back.
