It was very dark when I had spotted the small town in front of me. It was only a little longer until I finally reached it as my horse was tired. When I did reach it I headed directly for the small inn and tavern. A bed for the night and a stall for my horse would be much needed. I left my horse with the tired stable boy and made my way inside only to have my head narrowly missed by a flying cup. The entire place was chaos with a large fight. That's when I spotted him. He was hard to miss while he dodged the throws made at him and taunting the other men. He was happy and smiling. Something I hadn't seen since he was banished from Camelot. I walked over to the bar and sat until the fighting had died down and men returned to their homes.

"I am very sorry that you had to see that. My place is not usually this way." the innkeeper said wiping his hands on a towel.

"Actually I am glad that it is. I would be worried otherwise." I laughed.

He seemed confused until he followed my gaze to the tall man with the dark hair.

"You know him then? He's in here a lot. Always telling stories and starting fights. More often than not he is talking about a beautiful lady that he has fallen in love with and that he has to stay away from her for reasons untold. You wouldn't happen to know of this maiden, would you?" he was now leaning against the bar with his hand propping up his chin.

"I cannot be certain but I have an idea." I stood up and walked closer to where the man was now sitting with a cup of mead in one hand.

His other hand was moving as he told a story of a beautiful maiden that he fights for. She is always in his thoughts and he wishes to one day be reunited with her but he knows that cannot be because he was banished from the land of which she lives. He seemed to be sad as he told his tale but you could only tell by his eyes which did not have their usual, mischievous shine.

"Would this lady have a name by any chance, Gwaine?" I asked him causing him to look up in surprise.

He stood and walked towards me grinning. Everyone in the tavern had stopped what they were doing and turned to look at the two of us.

"She does. And it only matches the beauty of her soul."

I smiled and looked up at him then he closed the distance between us.
