Arthur was reading. I didn't know he did that. I walked into his room like it was any other night to bring him dinner because he hadn't come out of his room to eat with his father and I see him on his bed reading a book.

"Merlin, are you just going to stand there and stare at me or will I get the food that you so kindly brought to me?" I looked up startled to see Arthur looking at me from over the top of his book.

"Yes, I mean no. I mean, here's your food, Sire."

"Merlin. Would you like to know what I am reading instead of just standing there with my food and staring at my book?"

"Right, sorry." I walked forward and set the food next to him on the bed.

"Are you cold?" Arthur asked as I shivered.

"No, I'm fine."

"Merlin, I can see you shivering. Come here."

I looked at him and then sat on the bed next to him.

"I meant under the blankets. You can stay in here for a while with me while I read."

"Read to me?" I asked.

"Okay." Arthur pulled me to him and wrapped his arm around my shoulders. "You will be warmer like this."

I could only nod as I let my head fall just under his chin. My arm draped over his stomach. He was already very warm and I knew that I would warm up very fast.

"Are you comfy there Merlin?" Arthur asked as he laughed.

"Yeah."

He just laughed again and ran his fingers through my hair as he started reading out loud. It was peaceful and soothing, him reading to me as he played with my hair. Before I knew it I had fallen asleep.

"Merlin, wake up love. You should go back to your own room now."

I opened my eyes and saw that I wasn't in my room. And my pillow was moving. That's when I jumped out of Arthur's bed.

"Or you could stay. I don't mind. I think I would prefer if you did." Arthur looked both hurt and scared.

"This never should have happened in the first place. I should go."

"Merlin, please. Stay?"

I turned and then went back to his side. I sat down and want to pull my shoes off when I realized that I hadn't put them back on. Instead I just pulled off my jacket and untied my scarf before I laid back down. Arthur rolled over in the bed so he was facing me and he smiled as he pushed a bit of my hair off of my forehead.

"Thank you." He said as he pulled me to him for the second time that day.

I relaxed into him and closed my eyes as his arms wrapped around me. One on my waist, the other in my hair. I couldn't help but smile as I drifted back to sleep.
