The dirt around me was stained red with blood. Everything was fading fast into darkness. The only sound was that of fighting and shouts of pain. The last thing I saw before I blacked out was Percival as he picked up my weak body.

"Please. I can't lose you. You have to wake up." the voice was faint but clear.

I felt a warm, comforting hand on mine but also drops of water hitting my skin.

"Percival. You need to rest. I promise to wake you up when she wakes." another voice said.

"Merlin, I don't want to be far from her."

"Stay in my room. It will not be as comfortable but it is the closest that you can get to her."

"Thank you Merlin."

It was very bright and everything smelled like lavender, sage and vanilla. And Percival. It also smelled strongly of Percival. There was noise nearby, almost as though someone was making something. I moved a little to get the heavy blankets off of me then I heard footsteps coming towards me.

"Don't move. I will wake Percival but please, I don't want to hurt yourself." the voice was Merlin's, soft and gentle but wise and strong.

He walked away from the bed I was in and entered another room. I heard stirring and suddenly Percival was at my side holding my hand. He was grinning ear to ear but his eyes looked sad.

"Percival, please. Don't cry. Knights cannot cry." I laughed but stopped when I felt a pain shoot through me.

"Right now I am not here as a knight. Nor as just a comforting hand to hold. I am here because I care about you and I can't lose you." he said as a few tears left his eyes.

"Percival, you are not going to lose me. I am still here and I am not going to leave your side." I said giving his hand a comforting squeeze.

He smiled and his other hand moved to cup my cheek. I leaned into his warm hand and smile. He smiles as well and leans downs to kiss me.
