It's been 3 weeks since I spoke to her. I got out of the hospital about a week ago. While I was there, I had a therapist visiting at least twice a day. I never really spoke to any of them for the first few days. Then, I realized that I have to talk if I want to get out of her. So, I did. I spoke up. I never said the truth though. I don't think they knew I was lying. I'm pretty good at that if I'm being honest.
I'm staying at my grandma's since my mom doesn't want me in her house. I hate calling her 'mom'. She never was, and will never be my mother. All she did was give birth to me. She rarely made me feel like I was her daughter.
My grandma is nice. She gave me a room, and she always makes sure I'm okay. She gives me space, but not too much space which I like. She tries her best to make me feel loved, and I appreciate that. I love her so much.
I've been talking to my grandma for a while now. She's asking me questions because she wants to get to know me better. Because she really cares.
"Do you have any friends?" she asks.
"Yea, I do"
"Do you have a best friend or anything? Someone you trust more than anyone else. Someone you love more than you love your own family. Maybe even your own self?"
A picture of her pops in my mind. She was my everything, but now I have nothing, because I don't have her.
"Yea, I had one. She was my favorite person. She was so much older than me though, but I didn't really care. I loved her more than anything. I still do to be honest"
"What was her name?"
"Mrs. Heavenly"
"Heavenly? Do you mean your previous English teacher? The one who left to teach at university?"
A wave of confusion hits me, "Yea, that's her. How do you know her though?"
"She came to the hospital every day when you were there. She kept asking doctors about you. I went up her, and asked her who she was. She told me she was a friend of yours who hurt you. She said she wants to make up for it. We kept talking and she told me everything about you two. She even told me about the day she wasn't there for you when you needed her the most. She didn't tell you the whole story did she?"
I shake my head.
"I'll tell you, but don't tell her I did, okay?"
I nod.
"That girl's parents were getting a divorce and she wasn't doing alright. So, Heavenly decided meeting her to talk to her and help her out. She was planning on staying with her for a couple of hours to calm her down. She was then coming to attend the appointment with you, but that girl didn't let her go. She kept talking, and talking. She started crying and she really needed someone. Heavenly wanted to call you to cancel the appointment because she knew she couldn't make it, but her phone died and she wanted to charge it, it fell and broke. She didn't answer your texts those days because her phone was getting repaired"
"She lied to me. In the hospital"
"She lied because she didn't want to hurt you. She loves you so much, you know. She calls me every day to ask me about you. She's a good person. She's pretty hurt for losing you though, maybe you should fix that"
"Yea, maybe you're right"
"I am right"
I smile. I love her attitude.
I go up to my room and finally go for it.
I text her.
