Divergent High: Beatrice to Tris

Chapter 5

After a long night of unpacking we go out and get some frozen yogurt. Then go back to the house and go to sleep. We will have to finish unpacking later.

I wake up and look at the clock to see that it's 9:15am. I change out of my pjs and get dressed, then head down stairs to get breakfast. Caleb and my mom are in the living room watching the news.

I grab some lucky charms, a big bowl, and the milk and pour them into the bowl. Lucky charms are my favorite cereal, so I eat it a lot.

"Ready?"
"Yep" me and Caleb reply at the same time
"Genks!" we say at the same time
"Genks again!" We yell at the same time, then we all burst out into laughter

Today is is Friday so we are going to get a tour of our new school and we will start on Monday. After we're done at the school we're going to look around Chicago a bit.

On the way to the school we talk about my moms job and school. My jaw drops as we pull up to the school. It's huge! And it has tables and a garden, a lot of grass area, and really big trees.

We get out of the car and walk into the building. The halls are empty so everyone is probably in class. We walk into the office and a person I'm assuming that is the principle walks up to us.
"Hi! I Mr.Hertbird the principle, it's nice to meet you!" he says, he has short blonde hair and is probably in his mid 30s
"Hi! I Natalie Prior and they are Caleb and Beatrice" she says
"It's just Tris" I smile at him
"Well it's nice to meet you Caleb, Just Tris, and Mrs.Prior" Mr.Hertbird says, I laugh when he says just Tris. Man it feels good to smile and laugh again!

"Well we should start the tour I guess" Mr.Hertbird says

He shows us all the classrooms first then the gym/locker rooms. The bell rings and kids pile out of the rooms and out into the hall.
"That's the lunch bell" he tells us
We just nod and keep walking.

"This is the lunchroom" he says
"Wow it's huge" Caleb says
"Yeah, it's pretty big" Mr.Hertbird replies back

I look around and look at all the kids, but I stop and look at this one table. They're all laughing and talking and poking each other. I look at all their faces and stop and stare at this one guy. He has short brown hair, bright blue eyes and a perfect smile.

When he looks up from giving his friend a nuggie he sees me staring at him and smiles! What?! I can feel my cheeks warming up.
"Earth to Beatrice!" Caleb says waving his hand in front of my face.
"Sorry what?" I say looking at him
"We're going to go get our schedules" he says
"Oh ok" I say

Before I walk out I look back and see him still looking at me so I smile at him and turn back and keep walking.

"So what do you guys think?" Mr.Hertbird asks us
"It awesome!" Caleb says
"Yeah!" I say agreeing with him
"I think it's great! I love it how there's so many kids! Maybe you can make friends Bea!" my mom says happily
"Mom!" I say getting mad
"I meant good friends that don't leave you and make fun of you. I don't want what happened last time to happen to you again" she says caring
"Still, I don't want to talk about it" I say mad and embarrassed
"I'm sorry, I just don't like seeing you like that" she says
"We're done talking about this" I say
"Ok, Im sorry" she says and hugs me
"I'm sorry too, I love you" I say hugging her back
"I love you too" she smiles
"Hey what about me!" Caleb pouts
"We love you too" I say

"Um we'll should we continue?" Mr.Hertbird asks awkwardly
"Yeah" Caleb says and we continue our way to the office
"Hey Hellen! Can you print out the papers for the Priors please." he says with a smile
"Of course! Anything for my little brother!" she smiles, Ah that's so cute!
"Thanks!" he says to her taking the papers "here are you schedules and locker numbers and combinations" he says handing us or papers
"Thanks" me and Caleb say
