Jungkook rushed through the crowds, his heart pumping so heavily as he said "hello" to everyone who came. That weight on his shoulders seemed to be getting heavier the more he realised how embarrassed Elizabeth would feel once the truth came out. She would be that girl in the newspapers that was thrown away and left humiliated. He never really considered her feelings in all of this, never thought of her as a person.
All his life he had used people to get what he wanted, he even used Jimin to a certain point. He used that boy for his own sexual needs and wants. Jimin was right what he said that day when he came back, he was a terrible person. And he had never really realised it until the thought of Elizabeth in her dress, waiting for him filled with so much excitement. Telling her just wouldn't be enough, he needed to save her reputation and the only way to do that...
He would need to destroy his own. Jungkook spotted Taehyung down the corridor and gestured him over.
"Everything ok hyung?"
"How many news reporters are here?"
Taehyung frowned at the question.
"Several I guess...it is a big occasion."
"Where are they located right now?"
"Uh—outside the palace gates, why do you ask?"
Jungkook didn't answer he just ran down the halls leaving Taehyung scratching his head with complete confusion. He panted reaching the tall wooden door and pulled it back forcefully to face the crowds of at least twenty different news vans outside.
"Jungkook?"
He looked back to see Jimin standing there with at least fifty guests behind him looking equally confused. He held out his hand for Jimin but the boy stepped back not knowing what was happening.
"What are you do...the wedding is about to start."
Jungkook didn't care anymore, he just didn't fucking care about any of it anymore.
"Just take my hand and trust me."
Jimin did, he took that hand not knowing what was happening but knowing only that he trusted this man. He trusted him with all his heart and his life. The cameras flashed so brightly that Jimin could barely see where he was being pulled to. He allowed himself to be guided blindly to the gates and then felt Jungkook's hand let go and was suddenly so frightened.Jungkook exhaled softly and looked to Jimin for comfort and then back at the guests to see Elizabeth standing there looking at him. Taehyung followed behind her. Jungkook didn't want her to be seen or hurt by what he had to say. He put the earpiece in he was was given earlier to talk to Taehyung.
"Get her out of here."
Taehyung blinked as he heard Jungkook's voice travelling to his ear but followed the order almost immediately. He escorted her back inside and Jungkook turned back to the crowds of hungry reporters.
"I have something Id like to say..."
Jungkook cleared his throat feeling a lump suffocating him.
"What's going on King Jeon?"
"Yeah you're not getting cold feet are you?!"
The reporters laughed to themselves.
"Is this live?"
Jungkook addressed one of the female reporters who was holding onto her microphone eagerly. She nodded her head enthusiastically.
"Can I borrow?"
Jungkook pointed to the mic.
"Oh yes of course Your Majesty."
"Thank you."Jungkook gulped as he propped the mic close to his mouth and exhaled with a shudder. He looked to Jimin just standing there close beside him and that gave him comfort.
"I am a terrible person and an unworthy King..."
Jungkook felt the tears build up in his eyes as he finally said what he was always afraid to admit.
"I have lied to the country I promised to lead with grace and dignity since I took on the crown. I always wanted to lead by my father's example but I never really knew him until today."Jungkook stared into the camera and could just imagine all those people watching at home probably wondering if their King was having a breakdown.
"I have lived this double life for so long that I forget who was and how I wanted this country to be. I chose to marry not by choice but because I was being blackmailed into this situation."
The crowds murmured softly and just watched Jungkook reveal his terrible truth.
"Elizabeth did not know this so do not hate her, do not make her feel unimportant because she is a wonderful person who deserves all of our respect. I did not mean to hurt her or those I care about. I chose to marry to protect the man I love."
"Man?"
"Did he just say man?"
"Yes I did."The gossiping came to a halt and eyes widened as Jungkook took Jimin's hand and brought him close to his body.
"I am Jeon Jungkook The Third and I am a proud gay man who has been in love with his servant since the first day he met him. I tried to deny my sexuality to the world but I'm done hiding."
Jungkook looked down to Jimin who was obviously in complete shock as was everyone around him and probably every person watching at home. But he just didn't care anymore because now he was free from all the lies. Obviously he knew it wasn't going to be easy to simply make this statement but the questions could wait for now.
"This is who I am."
