Bucky's POV
Nights after stressful days are hard on everyone. Or maybe just me. I couldn't stop but think that Y/n did know about what the person was talking about. Not to mention how we almost lost Romanoff. The team wouldn't have been the same without her. Putting anyone and everyone in place when needed. She gets us to actually do things around here. I mean, I may also be a assassin but she is a lot scarier at that level. We're all glad she's okay now thanks to Y/n. Speaking of Y/n as I was walking down the hall I saw her door open and when I walk towards it I see she's not inside. Now I start to worry. I was supposed to watch her. And now she's gone.
I fast walk to the training room and see no one in there. I know she doesn't have a way in there but I check in there anyways since I know it's the only place she likes besides her room. I rush over to the main room and see she's not here till I see a light outside and I look over and see someone sat at the pier. I look closer seeing that it was actually Y/n out there.
"Jarvis. How long has Y/n been out there" I ask.
"23 minutes Sargent" Jarvis spoke.
"How cold is it" I ask.
"68" it says.
I shake my head and walk over to the couch grabbing the blanket that was there and walk out. It's not as cold as Jarvis had said but it was still cold to me so I took the blanket. As I'm walking I realize that how long she's been out here is when I was awake. She never even came to knock or anything. As I get on the pier it creeks making her look back with a flinch but I see her relax when she see's its me.
"I can't tell what's scarier you walking up or the person I thought was walking up" she says. I couldn't say anything but chuckle. Any time she's alone she flinches and tells me how she thinks it's someone but never says a name but I know who she's talking about.
"It's cold and 3 in the morning thought you might like something to keep you warm" I say holding out the blanket.
Your POV
Why was he up? I don't know. And yea I took that blanket I just didn't want to go back inside and possibly wake someone up. "Thank you" I say.
"I just wanted to make sure you were okay I'll leave if you..." "stay. please" I say interrupting him. He looks at me for a second till I move my legs to hang off the pier and he walks over and sits across from me on the post.
"Not everyone can sleep peacefully I see" I say.
"Any time anyone is hurt I always seem to sleep uneasy" he says. He looks towards me. "What about you?" he asked.
"I guess you could say it's what happened with Nat. But there's always more then one reason with me" I say.
"Like what?" he ask.
"Tonight was the night" I say. He looks over at me confused. "The day I met Brock" I say. I see his face drop and I just look back out the lake.
"Nightmares I'm guessing" he ask.
"I didn't know you could feel nightmares" I said. He looks over at me confused.
"I'm sorry?" he says.
"Ever since I met Brock I always got nightmares of something he did to me. Last year it was them drowning me and basically shocking me back to life for a whole day and I woke up with so much pain" I say. I see the worried look on his face. "I didn't get up out of bed for a day" I state.
"And you didn't tell us" he asked.
"I wasn't gonna sleep. Everyone has done so much already I don't need to keep y'all up as well" I state.
"It wouldn't have been a problem. We've been on missions where we were up for days almost a week. I'm pretty sure a couple night's wouldn't have hurt" he says.
"I'm sorry. Sometimes I just go to a safehouse away from everyone so they didn't hear me scream or cry. I'm pretty sure you know what happens when you cry in front of them" I say. All he does is nod. "I know I should tell you everything but I would like to keep some things a secret now and then. Please?" you ask.
"I cant promise everything Y/n" he says. That's when I feel my heart sink and my nerves start to get ahead of me. "But some stuff yes" he says. You look up at him and nod. "But you also need sleep. Especially after yesterday" he says.
"I've tried" I say.
"Then why did you come out here" he ask. You go quiet and he smirks. "You came out here to try and sleep but we both know you'll regret it cause of the humidity in the morning" He says.
"Wouldn't be the last time I woke up in a sweat" I say. "And you brought me blanket" I say patting the fabric.
"Fine. Then I will stay here till you fall asleep then" he says.
"Then I won't sleep. I needed company anyways" I say.
"For what?" he ask. I smirk and grab his hand and pull it towards me making him sit up and I push him sideways into the lake laughing. He come's back up taking a deep breath and looks at me in disbelief. "What the hell was that for" he exclaims.
"I saw your pocket was empty so you didn't have your phone and I got bored and gave you a reason to go back inside and leave me be" I say smirking.
"Fine your turn" he says. My face falters so fast and I get up scooting away before he can grab me and I hear him chuckle before I look at him then his face falters as fast as mine. "What is it?" he ask.
"I uh...I have the phone y'all gave me. I just didn't wanna get it wet" I say lying. I think he knew I was lying cause he swam over to the edge of the dock and pulled himself up sitting on the edge.
"Your hands twitching" he says. I look down at it seeing it was moving a lot and I grab it with my other hand making it stop. I look back at him seeing a questioning look on his face. "Your afraid of the water. Aren't you?" he ask. I don't answer but look down and he stands up making me back up a bit. "Hey I won't push you in. Even though you deserve it in a way" he states.
"I guess I'm afraid of the water. But uh...it was something they did when I was with...them. Put you through conditioning. Put you out if they couldn't get a needle to do it. Basically told you how they did it a second ago" I say. He looks at me in concern. "Plus I don't know how to swim" I say. That make's his face go from concern to confused.
"You don't know how to swim. But you went on a boat from the US to Germany?" he ask.
"I was desperate okay" I say rolling my eyes. All he does is chuckle shaking his head.
"I still think you should go in" he says. I look at him giving him a scared look. "But considering what you just said I won't throw you in" he says. Now that makes me let out a breath of relief. "So you owe me instead. Don't know what or when but you owe me" he says.
"Deal" I claim instantly making him chuckle.
"Okay. Now that you gave me a 'reason' to go back inside, I can't leave you out here by yourself so your coming in with me" he says. I groan and he moves his arm gesturing for me to go first. "Come on you know the rules" he says.
"I won't run this time" I say trying to make a deal.
"Nope. Inside or I pick you up and bring you myself" he says. Considering he was dripping and soaking wet I roll my eyes and start walking. He picks up the blanket he brought and tries to dry himself a bit before we go inside.
When we got inside I went to the Kitchen grabbing another Snack before I went back till there was a knock on the wall behind me making me turn around and I see it was Bucky.
"Sorry. I just wanted to say if you ever have a hard time sleeping you can always knock on my door. I have nigh mares myself so I know how it is" he says. I didn't know what to say to that gesture so I nod. "Alright. Try and get an hour for me alright" he says. I nod and he walks off to I'm guessing his room and I stood there thinking of everything that just happened.
I don't know why I always end up telling him stuff. But I feel like since we were both at that place I know he can relate and understand so it comes out naturally with him. It's weird but...in a good way.
